Did you enjoy Columbo? The look, the formulaic - but still entertaining, like a familiar song - way each episode played out, the charisma of the lead? They intentionally recreated all that.

I'd read about the video game's unusually bleak/consequential game play. Sounded like a good premise for yet another post-apocalyptic/dystopian TV series.
Saw episodes 1 & 2. So far, so good.
Station 11 didn't grab us the way this did. But even if someone didn't care for eps 1 & 2, I'd say they should stick around for 3.

Charlie started watching The Last of Us because it's got Pedro Pascal (he knows him from the Star Wars series' Mandalorian) and among the cameos listed was Nick Offerman. No spoilers except to say it's a zombie series based on a video game.
As much as I don't enjoy the ugh factor or the BOO! factor, the series is very compelling and Holy Shit episode 3 ... even if you don't want to watch the first two episodes, you don't really have to to get into ep. 3 and there's minimal zombie, maximal story. You might even cry. Some of my friends online last night were in fact crying.
Those of you familiar with the extraordinary, brilliant show The Detectorists might want to check your streaming services for the recent Christmas special. Mackenzie Crook thought about this one for a long time, and it pays off nicely. Do not read anything about it that might tell you anything about the plot. Let it unfold and you'll be rewarded.
The original series (has three seasons before it wraps up poignantly, smartly)
The recent special
I loved every episode and was really chuffed to find Detectorists The Movie which I had somehow missed. Excellent show. I think Toby Jones is brilliant.
He also does a lot of producing and directing - some pretty big name films. His little BBC series about the bus driver was another gem of his.
Another subtle comedy but with different actors, The Cleaner from BBC was another British short series that I wish they had continued.
Acorn and Britbox are our regular go to channels these days. A pleasant break from the American formula for TV.

Do you know which US streaming service is carrying it?
