Just binged the first five eps of The Day of The Jackal thanks to my friendly neighbourhood torrent deliveries.

If you're a fan of the novel, you should check this out.  Reimagined into modern political times - and you don't have to look too closely to see the parallels with today's political landscape - including the Jackal's targets.  Though there is some unnecessary and soon annoying domestic drama by one of the primary characters, it remains enjoyable.  So far.

In the US, on NBC's streaming platform Peacock, it premieres on Nov 14.

I feel like I was led down the path. What started as a bit of a “stalker complicates a comedian’s life” has turned extraordinarily dark. I watched an ep last night (the one where he’s befriended by someone in the business) and felt like I did during Schindler’s List. Hard to shake.

Finished all of Reindeer. We got into a discussion about what is “entertainment” these days. Frankly, the series was a massive waste of time, although I’m sure it was cathartic for him. But, except for the reinforcement that drugs are bad and there is sex violence out there as well as crazy people and a (shocked!) inefficient justice system…nothing positive or commendable from the show. Maybe that trans people are OK, since that seemed to be an underlying message.

But there wasn’t anything funny about this. Nothing that felt remotely positive, unless you want to think “I hope you do OK, mate” and feel like your wishes mean something to someone you’ve never met.

Thumbs down.

Was pretty good, and avoided the usual "dead episode" or two by keeping it to around 3 and a half hours total.

Tried Outer Range recently - season one, of course: 7.1/10 IMDB | 79% Rotten Tomatoes | 60% TV Guide

By the second episode, I was talking back to the TV, as one stereotype after another emerged.  During the second ep, I had to mute the sound when the idiotic singing began along with my swearing.  In the third episode, I started frequently swearing at what I was watching, the stereotypes and cretinous writing approaching ludicrous values. The fourth ep did me in.  I did not make it all the way through.  "Oh FSCK OFF" was repeated a few times before I switched it off and threw my remote through the TV.

What happened to producing actual decent TV series that challenge you and don't insult your intelligence?

It's a great series—at least the first season. Haven't watched the second yet. This is the American version with Elijah Wood.

If interested in bat$h*t crazy dramadies, check out "Everything Everywhere All At Once." Mind-blowing fun. If you can recognize Jamie Lee Curtis in the trailer, you're a better man than me.

The Completely Made Up Adevntures of Dick Turpin  - Half hour comedy. British humour sensibility. Silly and funny.
Our Flag Means Death - Half hour comedy starring Murray from Flight of the Conchords. A wonderful tale of pirates and love. Great cast, including Leslie Jones as a Pirate Queen.
Midnight Gospel - half hour animated series for adults with wild visuals and deep discussions about philosophy.
Blue Eye Samurai - Stunning hour-long episodes in this animated series for adults about a female samurai in disguise and on a mission to kill the 4 white men who were in Japan when she was conceived. Set in the 1600s.
Loot - half hour comdey/drama starring Maya Rudolph about a tech billionaire's wife after the divorce. Funny and sweet.

The 28-minute long Bluey episode was quite good but I think it shows that the short format is really better for character development and story arc than a potential movie would be. The amount of child and adult stuff they can fit into a 7-minute episode is pretty great.

My granddaughter has been watching this since it came out.
I'm sure she's seen everyone at least 10 times each now.
My wife and I get caught up in them frequently.
