Fascinating. Although you can certainly make an empirical judgement based on physical symptoms, I wonder if - since he's such a high-profile guy - they did a nuclear/bone scan on him or, less good, an MRI.
Edit - looks like CT and MRI.

When I had posted that link it was a "passive" response to someone (who had posted dozens of anti-vax posts) in here postulating (in another thread) that Nadal had withdrawn from that tournament because he had COVID - despite his being triple-vaxed.  Nadal was experiencing chest/rib pain during that tournament and had withdrawn, so that other RP member asserted it was COVID.

Right, her opponent had a lot to do with it. As I mentioned, I was surprised how poised Andreescu was when Serena made her comeback. You could see how nervous she was - she even seemed to have trouble catching the ball prior to serving - and I was sort of expecting a collapse, but she hung in there and played clutch tennis for the win. I'd be surprised if she doesn't win more majors.

Here's something from a Sportsnet article that gives a bit of an insight to her poise (and I shall add, determination):

"But while her climb has been fast, there were many signs that this young woman would one day get here — and not just the literal poster in her bedroom, where she wrote “Future No. 1.”Peter Liu noticed one of those signs when Andreescu was seven. He coached her for one year at the Ontario Racquet Club in Mississauga, and though he didn’t see anything about her game that made her technically superior to other kids her age, there was this: “She cried a lot,” he said, and not the tears of joy we saw on Saturday. If Andreescu hit a bunch of shots in a row into the net during practice, the tears flowed. “She set a high standard for herself at such a young age. That’s very unusual,” said Liu. “It was her determination that made her stand out.” He called her “The little girl with the big dream.”

Labelle, who got a big hug from Andreescu after the win, noticed a sign that she was bound for greatness more recently. Andreescu was 17, with two stress fractures in her foot. She still wanted to practice, so he took the back off a business-style chair — no wheels on this seat — and he plunked it down on the court. Andreescu sat in that chair and he fed her ball after ball after ball for an hour every day, moving the chair to different areas of the court periodically so she could volley and practice overhead smashes and groundstrokes. “She just loved it,” Labelle said. This went on for two and a half months."

Interesting.... you can definitely see her determination.

Just as I was about to turn the channel to watch the US Open finals...poof, the power goes off.

Figures.

Edit: And the current estimation as to when the power will be restored? Monday night 11PM.

Power came back on at 2AM. That current estimation was for neighbors a street over. Power pole cut in half. And now they're saying Tuesday night before power comes back on.

We got lucky. But still no cable or internet. 1st world problems.

Glad you have power back on.

I watched the Serena-Andreescu match. It was very good - Andreescu is an impressive young player. She basically beat Serena at her own power game. Hopefully Andreescu will win more titles.

I rarely watch tennis, but I so wanted to  watch that match. Thanks Dorian!

I think you nailed it when you said she beat Serena at her own power game. But Serena lost gracefully. And I agree with her, she didn't have her best game from the videos I've seen. Although I'm sure that had something to do with her opponent playing great tennis.

Yeah, and she showed a lot of poise getting her game back after Serena won four straight games to tie the second set. Pretty good for a 19 year-old!
