It would be interesting to me to see how this trend coexists with the decline of reading in our country.
As soon as they stopped reading MSM propaganda, they freed their minds to see the deep state, Q, Bill Gates's true self, and the truth found only in Republican leadership.
Now we just have to get the "intellectually woke cancel-crazy left" to stop reading, and we'll all appreciate the wisdom of the internet.
The less we read, the more we know! That, and watching videos, because easy...

There has been some political nattering and badgering. A lot of the posts might be cathartic in nature.
Though like Lazy8 says, democracy starts around the kitchen table. These discussions between family members, community members and friends are vital. The web simply extends the definition of 'friends' or community members, take your pick.
Yea I have been weening myself altogether from politics for awhile now because of this. This has been the last outlet of any political opinion from me, but I have always realized it is nothing but a catharsis, a venting. Decisions are preemptively made through this prism you speak of. Even here what I would consider the most educated, knowledgeable and intelligent digital collection on the innerwebs for the most part, sides are firmly entrenched based upon political persuasion. I have even lost interest in political post here in my last refuge. I am going to only post anything but politics here as well, good for the soul. If I break this pledge it will be with the utmost of apathy because it means so little to me. My contrarian nature is taking hold and as the world becomes more and more political, I reject it all with proud defiance and deem family, friends, animals and music as the only things left in the universe of true import.
I know what you mean about trying to ween away from political discussion here - it often seems tiresome and devoid of anything constructive. Still, I don't know if all people here are as "firmly entrenched" as it seems. As is often the case, the loudest voices (which seem the most entrenched) are not the only voices. To me it's analogous to people who write posts in forums all over the web, with their caps-lock on: that doesn't make their opinion more valid nor does it make it the predominant flavor of that forum.
we're at the point where the first filter for data/science is left wing or right wing
lays out how bias is being leveraged in a horrible way
kindling for digital nuttery
