Powdered water was even worse. Very little shelf life, and it tended to cause rust when it came into contact with metal utensils.

Boy Scouts with too much time on their hands are the world's biggest pyromaniacs. I speak from long-ago personal experience.
Looks like powdered milk is still around. I guess it wouldn't be so bad if they could keep some fats in it, but it was like drinking cloudy water.
