1971, Creedence Clearwater Revival, With Tower of Power as the warm up band.
The next was in 1972, Cat Stevens touring Tea for the Tillerman.

But by far, the best, the most life changing, the one that will live in my memory for years was....

1973 YES, touring Close to the Edge.
Can't remember where I just put my car keys, but by the gods I can still sing the lyrics to Heart of The Sunrise.

First concert - Big Brother & the Holding Co. , Quicksilver Messenger Service,  & Oxford Circle 2/18/1967 @ Avalon Ballroom, San Francisco, Ca.  Outstanding show… Many more to follow in the city and throughout the Bay Area.  Best concert ever (a very tough call)…  Springsteen, December 1977 @ Winterland, San Francisco, Ca.

My first was his last: Elvis. June 26,1977. I was sixteen, and I actually got my mother, who was from the 'evil hip shakin' devil's music generation' to actually take me and my older brother, our seats couldn't have been further back at Market Square Arena, the little white blob may have been overweight.... hard to tell{#Wink} but his voice was incredible. I remember him saying this was the end of his tour, next stop was Graceland and rest. Little did we know how eternal of a rest he was talking about.{#Cry} Ticket stub from Elvis' last concert

Emerson, Lake & Palmer. Think it was around 1972. At a small bandshell at Wonderland Gardens in London, ON. I was mesmerized. We all sat on the floor, almost could touch the drum kit. They trashed the stage, finished with 'Lucky Man', the big gong smashing away. Pretty funny.

I think it was Kenny Rogers and the First Edition about 1968 in OKC.??  He was rock n' roll then instead of country.

My Dad used to take me to hear big band music in Ireland when I was a kid and before that I recall going to outdoors concerts in Pomona, CA to hear some philharmonic orchestra.

A Canadian band called The Guess Who. Played American Woman,These Eyes,Takin Care of Business, etc. Really fine Rock band and nice guys. It had to be 120 degrees that night at the Kitchener Auditorium and they never bitched once.

I think I drank a gallon of h20 during the show.

The Allman Brothers Band (shortly after Duane died) with Alex Taylor (James' brother) opening. Musta been late '71.
Edit: I must make clear that that was the first concert that I actually bought a ticket for. A year or so before that my friends and I scaled a fence that surrounded an athletic field at the local community college where The Chambers Brothers and a then unknown band called Black Oak Arkansas were performing along with a number of local L.A. bands.
