Yes! to both. There are always a few weddings out there during the week. I don't know if anyone has been born there or not. But it is actually a city, with a DMV, a post office, and rangers, which are Burner volunteers, who patrol the premises in shifts and respond to emergencies, although how they find them I have no idea, since there is no cell phone or internet service there.

Burning Man is not a music festival, although I hear that the Crystal Method was there. It's basically an entire city that exists only one week a year. No rules, just 10 principles, that are followed by everyone there. It's a space to be whoever you want to be. It's life transforming.

I know that camp! My favorite is Barbie Death Camp, but there are all kinds there. Our camp is more of a spiritual camp.

Most peeps are from Cali, only the real hard core come from more than 6 hours away.

I heard that about the gift economy from some friends who went this year. Their camp is called the Kentucky Fried Camp, and they serve shots of bourbon and fried bologna sandwiches for breakfast.

Burning Man seems like a fantastic lot of fun; I might go if it were held in, oh, upstate New York or something.

Oh, no, the yurt can't be burnt, it is made from toxic chemicals. It sure worked out well. I would show you pics, if my camera hadn't disappeared into the aether.

Usually my idea of camping involves a two hour hike followed by room service. {#Wink}

But did you see this year's theme?  Post Apocalyptic Prom!!!

I'm a post apocalyptic junkie.  I'll watch or read almost anything if it involves the end of the world as we know it.  Add prom to the mix and I am so there.  Rather glad tickets are sold out because theme alone is almost enough to tempt me.  As it is I've spent too much time planning what I would wear/build/give away.
