Beautiful time machine.
My first kites were ones my dad would make out of sticks and newspaper, likely the way he had made them when he was a kid. Box kites too. The string was store bought but there were several rolls connected and wound around a different stick. The tail was likely a ripped up sheet or hated shirt.
Across the street before they built apartments on the land there was a small hill. It was the perfect spot to get that kite aimed directly at the occasional jets overhead. Kites verses jets. String theory time travel.
Eventually it would get too dark to see it but I could still feel it tugging every wind I wound, every gust that winded. My sweet Mother, tired of calling me in for supper, would give that last call which was somewhat angry and included my middle name. I'm out there, all alone under a darkening sky. All the jet fights are over and I'm winding as fast as I can. I still can't see it but I can feel it getting closer. String theory time travel. My Mother is calling me in for supper, or else. I'm 12 years old...

Mid September. It was hot, and (believe it or not) incredibly humid. Every time I got out of an air conditioned Uber or stepped out from an air conditioned building, my glasses would fog up entirely.

Just a candid moment at the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve, waiting for the tourists. I don't have many camera mistake type happenstance photos (oh, I take plenty, I just don't keep them), but this somewhat random shot of the people who are not often in the photos seemed like it fit the description to me.
