This period of Todd's career was probably his best, this album and Second Wind. Loved the way they were recorded, completely live (NH in the studio, SW in front of a quiet audience). I saw both tours and count them as some of my favorite Todd shows, and I've seen a few. Change Myself is right up there with my all time favorite songs by any artist.
Better Half and I watched him record the Second Wind album one night at the SF Palace of Fine Arts. He told the crowd repeatedly to not applaud, and to expect that they'd do songs more than once to try for a good take.
Applause after every song. Repeated warnings. Applause after every song. I felt so bad for the guy.
One time in 1989 he played at the Fillmore and someone had mocked up a Life cereal box with his pic on the front, and got it to him just in time for the song so he could hold it up to the crowd and proclaim "I LOVE MY.....LIFE!" Here's the poster on my wall.
Seen him dozens of times, with plenty of favorite moments (at the interlude of Can We Still Be Friends he lapsed into "connect the dots...la Lala la..." and I embarrassed the BH⢠by being the only one in the audience laughing at it). Todd is Godd.
This is it. The top. The best thing Todd has ever done, or will do. It takes a while - but it's 100% worth it.
Love how his (later) wife Michelle joins right in.
Me and my creator. We've got a funky love thing. Yeah. That's why I sing.
There is beauty in the world.

Very cool. I first saw Michelle Gray when she was an original member of The Tubes. Saw them live 3 times in the early days. Nice to know where she has landed later in life.
Toddâs keyboardist here: Vince Welnick.
Current drummer: Prairie Prince.
Todd and the Tubes apparently go pretty far back.
(Unrelated, Thatâs Lyle Workman, Brent Bourgeois, and Larry Tagg of âBourgeois Taggâ and Shandi Sinnamon and Jenni Muldaur on bvox)

Why do I never hear any Todd Rundgren or Utopia on Radio Paradise? Todd has a very diverse catalog and I believe there is something in it for just about everyone. Just curious.
No, no, no!.. more Todd would mean we would all hear less of Miley Cyrusâ cover of Jolene⦠totally unacceptable.
