They're still working on it, by the day and hour. It will eventually be permanently working, but if you refresh your browser, it will always fall back to the old site, if the new one is temporarily down.

As Wiliam said, they have a huge to-do list ahead of themselves.

Thanks for the workaround. I tried it but it doesn't seem to work with My Favorites option. :-(

Hi

The new site isn't loading online today. I either get a connection timed out error or 'Hmm. We’re having trouble finding that site', or on one or two occasions the site has started to appear but only the headphones logo is visible with a loading wheel that just keeps turning. I did get in once but there was no sound.

The bookmark version I had saved a day or so ago had an address of something like https://testing.radioparadise.com - deleted before I took a proper note though.

Most attempts were via a search for "radio paradise" and clicking on the link.

I have accessed via the legacy version but still no sound.

That was all with the firefox browser. Cookies and cache were also cleared and didn't make a difference.

On MS Edge searching "radio paradise" and clicking the link brought up the previous version of the site (not legacy) but all the image links are broken and there is no sound.

The sound on my PC is working. I'm now listening to Spotify.

I'm in the UK and using a desktop with Windows 10 if that's of any use.

Looking forward to listening again when all the teething troubles are over :-)

I am also in the UK and listen to RP via Pi and Volumio.
I had it playing all morning then somewhere like lunch time it just stopped.

I keep trying, but it has been out of action for the last few hours.
Always the problem with new websites and stuff.
Teething troubles.

Edit: lol, would you believe, the moment I pressed send on this, I tried again and it works fine again YAY!!!!

That is not the one I'm looking for. I guess it is the old "beta" player that I liked, is that available somewhere?

Edit: I'm looking for this version.

The new site is pretty!

Can I make one suggestion/request though?

Where there used to be a static piece of album art, there's now a ken-burnsian slowly moving image. This is really distracting to me (and I'm sure many other people) who like to keep the RP window open while working so we can check in on interesting songs. The motion constantly draws my eye, so I have to hide or cover the window, and I feel less in touch with the music I'm listening to. Anything that moves constantly can cause problems for some people.

I tried "hide slideshow" but that didn't seem to do anything.

I also tried the list view but that has animated headphones and doesn't show nearly as much info.

It would be lovely to have a way to disable the constant motion in that area of the screen so that it's possible to keep the RP window showing all the time while listening.

Thanks!

I just want to say that after using the new the player for a few days and after stabbing around and figuring out where things are, it's good. I had to figure out that the way to see the album cover that was no longer at the top of the page was to click the word 'album'. duh. I got used to the floating photos at the top of the page pretty quickly. Good stuff. There are layers to go through, clicking gets you to interesting places, like seeing what songs you 'voted for' on any given album and being able to clear or change the ratings, which to me is important because I like to use the 'My Favorites' channel. So to me, once I figured things out, this new player really is a change for the better.

Thanks for taking the time to explore! So happy you like the new player!

I'm not sure if it works in all systems or players, but in the web/browser view if I click on the "Music" tab, then click "What's Playing" from that drop-down, it will show the list of songs with the currently-playing song on top.  If you click that song title it shows the "old" view for the song, with the album art - not the slideshow - in that "info" space.

Good find!  It does lose the scrolling playlist column but it has a large image of the album cover in place of the slideshow — which I like.
For now, I've installed ad blocker and had it remove the slideshow.

I notice that the affiliate links to buy the music is now gone. I confess I rarely used them because I kept forgetting about them when I buy music. Maybe a dedicated affiliate link page if they can't be on the song page?

BTW, William, I really like the new logo. Two thumbs up!

Bit of a surprise when I tuned in yesterday.  But change is (can be) good.  Have to train myself to yell 'Go William!' during a natty segue session.  WooHoo!

Miss the ability to add columns to the info view (using Firefox app on linux PC).  Saw reference to caret (shift 6?) but not working.

The caret is on the top of player bar at the bottom of the window, more of an up arrow that cycles from where you are on the site and the player (pointing up when off the player and down when on the player)

Is there a way to get the old player back? I find the new not quite as nice as the previous version.
Some problems with the new one:

  1. Slideshow replaced album art. The slideshow is distracting and wasteful, constantly fetching images in the background.
  2. Page content does not use the whole width of the browser window. This causes everything to be really narrow and squashed.
  3. Grey-on-grey text is hard to read. The blue links in the Wikipedia section are especially bad.
  4. No scrollbars?
Sorry if I sound grumpy. I really appreciate all your work!
