He's just a skeptic because all the images he's seen are computer models.
Per the article, 8,000 died in colorado from the pandemic.
In a city of 1.8M, Philly lost 20,000, including 4,500 in one week in September of 1918.
My Great-Great-Grandmother died 4 days after the infamous War Bond parade (no idea if she/anyone in the house was there). 365 deaths to date in Philly (with ~225k fewer residents now than 100 years ago). Lesson learned here!

He wasn't supposed to matter. We're a Republic (not a democracy) and the Electors (ie Electoral College) were supposed to be the balance between public stupidity and government policy.

Re. Trump and Plaquenil...its not whether the drug works or not, but that a president ought not to be using his soap box to suggest treatments, especially those that are unproven.

Saw this over at other place and think it is spot on. No politics, no conspiracy, no finger pointing or arm chair expertice direction:
My timeline is a disaster right now. To those of you who feel like we should take this quarantine more seriously - I hear you. People are dying.
To those of you who feel like we should go back to business as usual - I hear you, too. Our livelihoods are dying.
But the truth is that no one really knows exactly when we should start to open this thing back up again. The experts don't really know. They're doing the best they can, but the honest ones will say they're not 100% sure.
Hear me here. Experts - people with doctorate degrees in this stuff - aren't 100% sure. They have access to all of the data and all the history and all of the models. They're watching what's happening around the world and trying to make the best decisions they can with the economy AND human lives in the balance.
You aren't an expert. I'm not an expert. We don't have access to all the information they do. And even if we did, we wouldn't know what to make of it. Our role is just to do what we have to do to survive, help each other out, and be cool.
So quit it with the drama. Right-wingers, we're not re-opening the state today. Left-wingers, we're not all going to die if your neighbor goes to Lowes. Be cool. We're going to be okay.
I know it's not fun. I miss being on stage. I miss traveling. I miss hugging people. I know my friends are watching their businesses crumble. I know people are dying. It sucks. It all sucks.
But throughout history and around the world, people have been through a lot worse with a lot less complaining. We're not really showing a whole lot of toughness here. For all the bluster about greatness, a lot of us are revealing ourselves to be whiners who think we're entitled to a risk-free, pain-free existence.
2020 is going to be a big chapter in the history books. Our kids are going to ask us what we did. Don't have tell them you were a conspiracy theorist or a panic monkey or a whiner. Be able to tell them that you did what you had to do and we made it. Be able to tell them that, if you were able, you helped people - and if you needed help, you took it with dignity.

By grasping at straws, he continues to provide his base, who think he's doing so much already, the sense that a miracle is just around the corner. Since it is...go back to work, go out and buy stuff, hang out at a restaurant.
If he was honest and told people it is likely to be a year before there is a vaccine or treatment plan for Covid, that might suggest that he has no control over the virus.
To be perfectly balanced, it also feeds the left, eager to bring him down, with material...see headline, Trimps drug not effective...fostering further divisiveness, which is ultimately why trump is so bad for this country.

The outer limits of Trumpâs timeline extends to the general election in November. He needs to be able to claim âvictoryâ over the virus before then. So he is inclined to cut corners and take gambles.
