Let the crying begin!
My prediction: when the dust settles, the lack of obvious Dem excitement (blame the candidates and the platform) will result in Dem voters under-performing compared to 2016. The Dem brain-trust was counting on the same turnout by Dem voters as 2016. Not going to happen.
On the other side - the overwhelming support for Trump will exceed his 2016 turnout. By. Far. New all-time records will be set.
Popular vote: Trump by a frigging landslide EC: Trump by a good margin - he will out-perform his 2016 result of 306.
While I'm not quite as confident as with the presidency, I think the Repubs will take the House & hold the Senate.
Trifecta. And one for the record books with turnout.

LOL! Good one. Fantasy time: Imagine at some point it becomes clear that Trump will lose the presidency. All across the USA, people raise their voices and in unison yell: "You're fired!!!"

How large is hard to say, but I am still saddened that Trump, who ostensibly will go down as the worst president in our history, will still garner 40 something percent of the vote. I do not understand how people can listen to what he says and things he does, and does not do, come to the conclusion that he is the guy. I did feel somewhat buoyed after watching the HBO doc, Soul of a Nation, largely based on Jon Meacham's book which put todays times in context with past events like Womens' suffrage, Civil Rights, and McCarthyism. I do think we will find our "better angels" this election and overcome our worse impulses. I choose hope over fear.
I hope you're right. I heard someone say that it's not his policies or lack there of that his supporters like. It's the blatant way he voices the hate they feel inside toward others .....ie Women, people of color, LGBTQ. Somehow him spewing this poison they feel inside themselves, makes it acceptable and likeable. Strange phenomenon for sure.

I am aware of the Post-Gazette endorsement (the Toledo Blade, same ownership, published the same editorial endorsement). The PG has been in turmoil the last 2 years or so. There was a staff revolt against the publisher and the executive editor. A prominent editorial cartoonist was fired for doing too many cartoons critical of Trump (several of his cartoons were spiked because of this). Before being promoted to executive editor, Keith Burris wrote an op-Ed vigorously defending Trumpâs shithole countries comment. There has been a lot going on there, including reports that the publisher, John R. Block came into newsroom one night inebriated and berated staff in front of his teenage daughter. Still, it is an endorsement. Trump has not moved America forward in his first 4 years. We have been in a tailspin â even before the pandemic. edit: PG did not endorse in 2016 presidential election, instead publishing guidelines for an undecided voter that were criticized for being a pseudo Trump endorsement.
