Just remember to stay away from the 120. {#Lol}

Plus the extension cord's 14 ga or heavier maybe so you can get away with running it 50 or 100 feet maybe.

I ran 14's @100'.
It worked really well.
I could put a speaker at each end of the house.

The real hassle was driving around the house to find the sweet spot of the FM signal.
Pulling stations in from almost 150 to 180 miles away with mountains between them and me was a challenge.
It was worth it.
I live in a desert... both geographically and musically.
And to this day, it hasn't changed at all.
Even with at least 5 different "rock" FM stations.

Sheesh.

The online place that sold me the one that came broken is refusing to refund or replace it and told me tough luck so I had to file a complaint with Fleabay and have to wait that out. A couple days ago a plumber friend of mine let me use his account to buy an ignitor locally at one of the places that only sell to contractors. They didn't have an OEM part like the online place and I had to get a generic 120v part. I had to modify the bracket to make it fit but it works and was only $7 more than the online one. Of course its been 60 everyday since so now I dont need it (yet).

As for the Pro-ject Debut III it's out of my price range right now.

Thanks

BTW how did it go with the heater part?

Oh and you'd be better off to just keep using the Onkyo over any of the entry level ones until you can get something better. You can put a better cartridge on the Onkyo and that will improve the sound quite a bit.

That Onkyo is at least as good as all the entry level usb units but the Pro-ject Debut III would be better.

The setup I have right now is an old Onkyo CP 1015-A (seen better days) through my Technics SA-80 to an iMic USB and then into Final Vinal. But you have to be right there to cut the sound after each and every song. Didi that for a couple of albums. It will take me years to create all of them to MP3's.

Some of the new USB turntables were suppose to automatically convert and entire album over to a flash drive.

How about a good software app for a Mac to do that automatically?

I use one of my regular turntables with a decent cartridge hooked to a PS Audio phono preamp that in turn goes to the line in on a EM-U 0404 usb hooked to my MAC. I rip to 32 bit float using Audacity and then convert to Flac for playback and to mp3 for LRC uploads.

There are many usb tables but you need to spend around $300 or so to get one that begins to be decent. It also depends on what kind of quality you expect and want.

If you already have a decent DAC and a stereo with a phono input you might be better off getting a used real turntable with a nice cartridge. It will work better than most of the all in one usb units.

Edit:
Getting to which USB table the only good lowish price one by far is the Pro-Ject Debut III. They list for $499 but have seen them being sold for mid $300 ish.

Do you have a USB turntable to convert your music to MP3?  Got any recommendations that are mid range in price?

Thanks

You definitely have to design around them. They are nearly 8 feet tall, 1500 lbs, and this set is available for 'just' $38,000. You'll probably spend at least that much again on a system to drive them too.  Better act soon, there are less than 300 of these in existence (although pertinent to the other discussion, consider that they are for sale after a divorce...).

Not for the faint of heart, space or wallet. Damn google.

Back in Tejas he had a large living room (more like a great room) with a very high vaulted ceiling. The place had a large built-in bar and was definitely designed for heavy-duty entertaining.

The Klipsches were powered by a Crown rack. One night he and the misses got "tuned" themselves and fell asleep while listening to said system at LOUD VOLUME. It was so loud, in fact, that it triggered the burglar alarm system. Failing to wake them up from their stupor, the alarm sounded on into the bewitching hours.

A couple of weeks later, his Mrs. went around the neighborhood to collect items for a silent charity auction. At one house, the neighbor inquired, "Were YOU and Steve around a couple weeks back when someone's burglar alarm system rang for hours on end past midnight?"

He was about 1/3 of the way through the speech when I said "but these are Infinity RS IIIa speakers, and I got a sweet deal on them". He stopped and said "oh... yeah, you should definitely keep those". She's grown to really like them now because of the sound, but I think she would trade them for something smaller in a heartbeat.

Mrs. Jag made me unload my JBL L-200s years ago. Sigh......

Its nice that you kept them and repaired them. They would be very hard to replace with something new that sounded as good that didn't cost a fortune. Brings back the days of replacing surrounds on lots of AR's and Dahlquist drivers for friends. The great thing is that the new surrounds will last lots lots longer.

Even in the degraded condition, they were better speakers than most others. The styling is a little dated on them, but they sound so good I don't care.
