A fun band.  Bill Nelson was the frontman.  They got lots of airplay here in Cleveburg.  Be-Bop Deluxe

Back when I listened to KROQ-FM Los Angeles... they weren't sure what niche to play in their early days.
They played these guys when nobody else did.
Good stuff. I've tried to turn on every radio station I've listened to in the past to them. Including this fine establishment.

Only one... KHUM-FM... played my request. Surprisingly... they never heard of them before.

The longer I get into this life I have found out just how lucky I was musically to be in Cleveburg during the 70's and 80's.  This band (BBD), Alex Harvey was another. Walter Egan.  There seemed to be a direct line from the village to here.  Patti Smith, The New York Dolls, Talking Heads, Blondie from day one.  This town broke Bowie / Mott, Todd and Springsteen nationally in the US and one might argue Floyd when TDSOTM was released.  Tom Waits got a huge boost here, too.  The Cars, The Pretenders. Very eclectic and unafraid music town.  Kid Leo mentioned in the linked article below was the one behind Springsteen, Todd and Tom Waits.

Just a part of what was happening here back then.
Cleveland Swingos hotel: Where rockers raged and legends were made in the 1970s

And then there was of all places, a Holiday Inn in Brecksville down south by the old Cleveland Colosseum that was equally crazy but in a more discreet way.  Nearly everyone who played the Colosseum with a tighter schedule stayed there after their gigs.  Complete with the usual post show wind downs.

There isn't very much in the RP library from the 60's, 70's and 80's that I haven't already heard along my journey at one time or another.  One of the things that drew me in back in the beginning here.  I was hearing stuff that was all warm and fuzzy and familiar.  Then it just got better and here we are.

Strong recommendation for this guy's podcast. VERY well researched. This covers the formation of the Kinks, and Dave's guitar tone.

"The first take of the new session was a dud, and Ray worried that Talmy would end the session then and there, but he allowed them to do a second take. And that second take was extraordinary. Going into the solo, Ray yelled “Oh no!” with excitement, looking over at Dave, and became convinced that he’d distracted Dave at the crucial moment. Instead, he delivered one of the defining solos of the rock genre"
Episode 119: “You Really Got Me” by the Kinks
