interestingly enough, i heard this for the very first time here on RP back in 2003. i have no idea how i had never heard it before. beautiful.
more recently, i think 3-4 months ago while outside on my patio in the sun thinking about my recently departed father i played this wearing headphones. it was a beautiful experience.
one of those songs i'll never forget for sure.
Yes... a great work.

I do remember. Every single flipping note and nuance. And then I saw him/them do it live a few years ago.

Sorry. I just don't like this one.

I get that.  I over look the lyrics and kind of enjoy the riff.  Not something that's gonna get regular play.

2022 US Walmart pressing.  One last try to see if I can beat the 1971 OP.  The 2014 didn't do it.

It's better than the 2014 and compares very nicely with the OP.

2022 Walmart US pressing.  This series is simply the best of all the reissues. Kills the 2014 pressings.  Already have II and III, IV just ordered.  Have a good copy of HOTH and the 24 bit files of Physical Graffiti.  I'll be all done with Zep.  Don't really care for the others enough to listen to them as album sides.

After listening again for the first time in 40 or so years, I gotta say that this is the album that kept me into Deep Purple after their breakout with Hush and the other early singles. And also to The Nice and eventually ELP.

I â™¥ Hammonds and Moogs.

this and uriah heep (easy living, july morning, etc.)

all good stuff

wow, i LOVE the cover art.
you know, i was never that into deep purple growing up. i mean, i remember hearing it all the time at the pool in the summers where my aunt (a late teen) and her friends would hang out. so that's what i think of when i hear them. then, last week i was listening to RP (well, maybe it was a couple weeks ago) and i had been alone in the office, so i could have the sound up a little louder than i do normally and a deep purple song came on that ROCKED me. and i was like..."Where have I been? This is fantastic stuff!" i think it was 'Fireball.' anyway...i'll check this album out, thanks!
