I spent a lot of time in Jr. High & High School soldering together shortwave radios & stuff. Didn't learn a single thing except that I'm pretty good at following instructions even if I don't know wtf they're talking about. Tab A? Slot B? Got it. Ikea furniture is a whole different ballgame tho.

I built the Vellemen K4040 90 wpc tube amp about 10 years ago. It wasn't a very good design and took a lot of mods to get it sounding decent and reliable.. A friend of mine I sold it to still uses it daily.

My first job ever was with Grief Kit as a kid wiring up "factory wired" stuff for them. They farmed it out. My Dad was an engineer and a Ham (W9ETP) and got me into electronics at a very early age. He made sure I had an FCC first class before I was HS age. I never became a Ham but it came in handy for when I volunteered for the HS FM station as an "engineer".
