There's absolutely no reason this TV series should have been remade. The same with many movies that are made each year (off the top of my head are "The Day The Earth Stood Still" & "The Taking of Phelam 1-2-3"). Didn't understand it then, and don't want to understand it now. I'll stick with the original.

One should not try to remake the perfect soufflé, especially when you are missing some key ingredients.

I still wanted to watch it, out of morbid curiosity, but there was new cartoon programming on Fox. Gotta go for Simpsons.

I have heard a lot of negative feedback on this one from friends who watched last night.

Just wondering if anyone else is watching it and what they think about it. When the original came out I was about 14 and I liked it as I had been a fan of "Secret Agent Man (Danger man in UK)" that The Prisoner was sort of a sequal to. I liked the Avant Garde'ness of it and thought it was a bit more cerebral than other Spy shows of the time like "The Avengers" (though I liked that also.).
After watching the first two episodes of the remake misery-series last night I am kind of split on what to think of it so far. It doesn't have the "Prequel" that the original had to make you familiar with the main character first.  They seemed to try and capture some of that Avant Garde feel with the architecture and the old Renault's, Morris's etc but just doesn't have that surrealistic feel of the original.
Also makes me wonder if they will have a proper ending as the original got canceled at 17 eps and Patrick McGoohan was told to make one final ep to end it so he made that totally bizarre ending that reportedly cost more to make than all the previous 16 eps together. I remember feeling a little perplexed and cheated when I saw that when it came out.
