I know, right? I mean, I went to Muir Woods (again) in 06—-but I've never truly gone to Yosemite as a destination. Maybe next year! {#Notworthy}

This is nothing new.....the past is what it is. But I hope you got the message at the end of the episode. About how monetary wealth is but one of America's gifts...the other is our landscape treasures—-which our country slowly but surely—because of Muir and like-minded people—began to protect.

God bless America - and everyone else on Earth who treasures and protects that beauty. Indeed. {#Cheers}

Its interesting the constant battle between the Private  Profiteers and the Public-minded environmentalists in this series.  How the Europeans thought how stupid the Americans were for trashing Niagara Falls with commercial concessions alll over the place.
And how Yosemite and Yellowstone were headed down the same sad fate before the sane people like Muir who wanted to save it for future generations kicked them out.

Burns is also obviously making a broader point about the constant battle between Public vs Private interests which is so relevant with the Health care battle going on now.

Crater Lake and Mesa Verde in Episode 2!!! {#Notworthy}
Been to a LOT of these parks in this film...and didn't even realize it.
I can so relate to what they keep saying about transcendental experiences in nature. Nature is and always has been...my church of choice.

Is that how Xeric saw this thing before it even aired on the east coast? Was he there too?
