Been a rough year. The Snoopy pic was sent to me by the wife months ago and I decided to build my 2022 mix, my 20th, around it somehow. Some familiar stuff, a groaner or two and some deep cuts that I recently found that have eluded me for decades. Strangely, two of the songs are Joni Mitchell covers that I only recently even noticed that about them. Kinda a mental reset mix if you will. Oh, and The Police song has a bad word in it ...
Hopefully everyone was able to get the bonus USB drive open and working.
and Happy New Year everyone !
practically all of this was a comfortable fit for me
still listening to this mix in my car rotation
groaner or two? (he said groaner, made me lol)
opposite of groaner? how about stoner?
so my stoners: csny, the animals, argent, free, lennon, quicksilver, Nazareth, j geils and chicago
love them
my groaners? there are no groaners
good work kurt
and thanks again for the usb! got it in my car que because rockin and rollin
From WeTransfer - the WAV files for this month's Headphones Only. AIFF files if you'd prefer. Again, let me know if there's a problem - or if it works. Experimenting.
It works.
So how did you go about creating a link to this ? I have used wetransfer but could only send files directly to individuals via their personal email.
I guess that I missed this option somewhere.
Interesting mix. This is all is new to me although I recognized the several cover songs but not the artists. Maybe Tori on B3, but that is just a guess. Nice cross fades and the closer wraps your theme up quite nicely.
An experiment: I finished Side A and B of my January "Headphones Only" MCC submission. Here's a link to the folder that has subfolders: AIF or WAV files. You should be able to download them for burning to disc (there's a link above them for that) or just stream as you choose. I'll give you the set list a bit later, so listening can be an "adventure."
Tell me if it doesn't work, or what you think about this. Yes, I can never do things the way I'm supposed to.
This seems to be available only to people with Apple IDs.
A lot of this is beloved - especially Witchi Tai Yo. But freakin' ANGELSEA! I so love that tune and its incredibly inappropriate and perfect synth alongside those massively inappropriate but thundering, kinetic drum fills. Genius production.
A few of these I wasn't familiar with, like the Quicksilver and Nazareth. That's what I like about getting a mix like this: some comfort food and something challenging.
I'm done with Side A of my mix, and might polish off the second one later. I'm out of town a bunch, away from a CD burner. I'm thinking it might work OK to put the files (Side A and B) online so you can download and enjoy, and burn if you choose? Then, should it be .wav or .aif files? I'm thinking the former but open to suggestions.

to you too!
This disc came to me after a particularly long day, and it was like a warm cup of a familiar beverage. The CSNY cut in particular is one of those that alwasy makes me stop what I'm doing and listen, one of those perfect recordings that kinda shows us how it's done.
I always loved the Brewer & Shipley song but never knew who did it. A fine Christmas Easter egg.
I played the grooves off the Argent solo record but I never get tired of Hold Your Head Up.
Allright Now always sounds like a stoned jam session where they made the song up on the spot—which I guess isn't far from what actually happened. An unrepeatable act of genius.
Instant Karma! has a similar story: 10 days from concept to release. And one of my favorite Lennon songs.
So many gems here! unfamiliar tunes from familiar artists. As usual the sound quality is superb.
Been pawing thru the thumb drive as well—that's going to take a while! Mighty mighty generous dose of music. Thanks!
I had an answer going that got erased during an update. Fortunately I still had the tabs open for the links.
I can vouch for the Switch File program. Been using it for years. It won't handle your problem though.
Here is an article with a good explanation of what kind of files HLS' are. HLS' are just data files with addresses for finding the streaming music to play on demand.
Holy moly I hit a major roadblock. I download my tunes from Apple in super high quality. But, that makes them HLS files and unable to convert to WAV or whatever as best I can tell. So my theoretical playlist just went up against a brick wall. Looks like I gotta rethink it and build from my CD stash, but rats.

Happy New Years Kurt, hope your 2023 is better than the last. You've gotta say that Snoopy is one of the most enduring and endearing characters of ALL TIME! I did some work for the media company that has the rights to the Schultz collection. They had some really cool Snoopy stuff there. On to the review. First 2 tracks I was smelling a festival theme, by the time Argent rolled around I was scratching my head and dared a peek. Speaking of Argent, I've always liked that his solo stuff doesn't sound one bit like his Zombies stuff. Nice clean vinyl rip of Instant Karma. I believe I heard some chimes at the end that I don't recall ever hearing before. Nice Deep Cat cut. Catch Bull is an underrated album of his. Early BOC is still my favorite, they were so unique and dynamic. You always seem to pull a Who tune out of the Never Heard Before Universe I have to be in the right mood for Nazareth, fortunately this one had me on the positive side. Enjoyed a not often heard Geils tune here. They have always been my favorite Boston band. Nary a snap pop or crackle on Begininings. How do you do it? Thanks for chipping in for the month of December. I have yet to explore your thumb drive but plan on it real soon. You are extremely generous to do that for all of us.
Thanks. This is full of guilty pleasures. Monkey Island being one of them in particular. Wasn't sure about this one, being one of the groaners I referred to. Geils was huge here in Cleveland. IIRC Love Stinks got first airplay here in Cleveburg.
The Who track is from the Who's Next sessions. Only released back then as a B side on a single. It got so much airplay here I thought that there was a special version of the album with it on it. I never really got into 45's and singles, so it took me 20 years to finally find it on a CD reissue as a bonus track. And then the album showed up again as a download with the same playlist. Might be one of my favorite Who tracks. Cat, yeah great album. What hooked me with Angelsea was the drumming. One thing a lot of the songs have in common after listening again is some really special drumming where the drums are more than background as part of the rhythm section or a big solo. They become a lead instrument. Not a conscience thing when picking out stuff. Just happened.
How do I fix the snaps, crackles and pops ? It's a pure labor (and it is a real tedious labor) of love. The end results are the reward. Ear Candy. I wish that I had some Google glasses to make a video of exactly what I do and how I do it in real time with synched sound. After all of these years I can look at a wav file and see the music, as crazy as that sounds, or more what is not music. The distortions and ticks and stuff.
The thumb drive is all about why should I be the only one to hear this stuff. Nothing else. And some vinyl only releases like the Buckingham Nicks album that very few ever get to hear.

Wow! Iâm so glad to see this still up & running. Was it 10 (or 15) years ago that NAF & I conceived of this little experiment on a road trip to Austin?
