Handwash thoroughly with soap and warm water, for 25 seconds. Here in the US, we fall quite a bit behind a lot of other well-to-do countries in terms of handwashing.

So there's something wrong with washing hands? If we're talking about water consumption-as-wasteful, let's talk about unnecessary things like lawn-watering and crop irrigation during the hottest part of the day. Hand washing is a matter of public health, man, and not just when there's a flu outbreak.

Well, it's part of the freedom you're obeisant to.

So why is there such a panic in the US about an influenza virus which is dangerous but no panic about the right to bear guns which is killing more people than this virus?

To advice washing hands looks only sincere where this is not usual.
But the US consumption of water is extraordinary.
