Psychedelics over the years made that process much easier to resolve for me. They brought out all the subconscious and forced a reckoning and resolution early on in life. LSD was still legal the first several times I did it. That was a long time ago.
I did some window pane that was sitting around for about ten years, five years ago for my 63rd Bday. I felt so good afterwards. Refreshed, reset and resolved. Somehow, I got lucky for my 68th Bday and scored some blotter. It will sit until I find the right time. I hope that the time is sooner rather than later. My easily playable music library is much improved since my last trip. Good LSD and great music go so goddam well together. Period, end of story.
I must add that dealing with Stage IV cancer also has had a similar affect. You must face your own mortality, deal with your inner demons and redefine what is truly important in your life. You find out a lot about yourself and how much at peace you are with yourself in that process. I am indeed at peace with myself and since, no longer fear death. I'm not looking to check out anytime soon mind you, but when my time is up, my time is up and I will pass on with few regrets now.
