What a story! Amazing how cold some people can be about small creatures.
You and your GIGANTIC heart Tom.
thanks!
She's doing great ... it only took me one week to house train her, and she is already coming to her name also. Yeah, she was a "bad dog" freaking humans.
All three of the friends who had expressed interest in having a small "lap-dog" before I got her have since decided that this just isn't the right time for them. So ... rather than trying to find her a good home with someone I don't know ... I think I'm going to keep her. She's so adorable, such a sweetheart - full of love and affection. And watching her play with her sister SueKaye is heart-warming. If I can find my stupid camera, I'll take and post some pictures.
I've renamed her "Lucy Lynn" - though I seem to only be calling her Lucy. She looks like a Lucy, it suits her. The name comes from the two dachshunds I had as a kid ... "Snoopy", named by me when I was 5, and "Brandy Lynn" named by my little sister. So, in honor of those wonderful pets, I now have another miniature dachshund ... Lucy. As sweet and wonderful as she can be. four dogs now, sheesh... but if you could meet all of them, you'd totally get it.
BUENOS AIRES (Reuters) - A newborn baby abandoned outdoors in winter by her 14-year-old mother was found safe in a dog pen with a mother dog and her brood of puppies near the city of La Plata, Argentine media reported on Friday.
Farmer Fabio Anze found the naked baby girl on Thursday, being kept warm among his dog China's puppies, La Nacion newspaper said. Anze called the police and the baby was taken to a hospital.
Egidio Melia, director of the Melchor Romero hospital, told television and newspaper reporters that the baby was just a few hours old when she was found, and was in good health although she had some bruises.
Nighttime temperatures are chilly but not freezing in the Southern Hemisphere winter in the rural area around La Plata, 40 miles south of Buenos Aires.
Police said they had located the 14-year-old girl who gave birth to the baby outdoors during the night.
It was not clear whether the mother left her baby in the dog's pen or whether the dog found the baby outdoors and carried it in to join her puppies.
Just one more reason we love you man.Truly some people are F-Tards.
thanks man! right back at ya! I hope my friends decide this is the right time for them to get their lap dog (I know they'd take great care of CoCo, as they do their current dog - CoCo would be fully loved and appreciated and cared for as she should be) ... but either way, CoCo will have the love and care she deserves - here with me, there with them, or at a new home that I find her while I foster her in the meantime.
So, I was talking with my sister Teri Kaye the other day - she and my sister Chrisdee got me a miniature dachshund puppy for my birthday last year ... the most perfect dog ever. That's SueKaye on the right, isn't she beautiful?
I love my little SueKaye so much that sometimes when I look at her I tear up and my heart breaks from all the love.
A friend of Teri's took a litter mate of SueKaye - another little black/tan miniature dachshund that she named CoCo. Teri's friend expressed little affection for CoCo, because she says she's a "demon dog", un-trainable - won't come when she calls - and because CoCo peed on her wool carpet.
They told Teri they were going to breed her, so they could "get their money back" through selling her puppies ... as if she was an investment, a mutual fund or something, not a pet and loved member of the family. After they sold all her puppies, they were going to get rid of her!
I couldn't stand that, and told Teri to tell her friend that I'd take her. Teri got her from her friend yesterday, and called with tears in her voice. When Teri let CoCo out of her cage, she crawled over to Teri, climbed in her lap, and licked her hand. She is so thin that you can see her ribs and the bones in her back. Yeah, the problem was the dog. Some people's fucking children.
I pick her up on Sunday - and have called a couple of friends who said they were thinking about getting a "lap dog". If they decide this isn't the right time, (or whatever), I'll either be keeping CoCo as my fourth loving and lovable and perfect little pup - or fostering her until I can find her a home that loves her: doesn't expect her to be perfect with no effort or training, feeds her and cares for her so her bones aren't visible and she isn't clearly scared and weak and hungry for affection.
I find it hard to imagine four dogs in my tiny little hovel, but I find it harder to imagine living with myself knowing that this poor little pup (SueKaye's sister!) was suffering so ... whether I'll keep her or just care for her until I can find her a loving home, I don't immediately know right now... we'll see. But there will be one less dog suffering in this world, and one more in my heart, as of Sunday.
Please hold a good thought for CoCo's future!

He was particularly good the day Britney Spears had her meltdown. Sounds funny to us now, but he was deadly serious: apparently he went through similar situations. He showed a lot of guts and class that day.

That's exactly what I thought, too. He won a place in my heart that day, indeed.
And you should catch Ferguson sometime. He's funny, and seems like a decent human being.

I said nada about the smell or maggots. And you believed me. Sad, really.
Edit: And you should catch Ferguson sometime. He's funny, and seems like a decent human being.
Not that Craig. Craig Ferguson, host of the Late Late Show. Apparently thinks less of cats than dogs, inasmuch as when you die your cat will eat you. I don't really see the problem, but hey...
