Oh by the way if he's taking aspirin/tylenol/ibu/naprox etc etc frequently, that will aggravate the problem too.

We had to do some looking to find ours, Lynne—there aren't a heck of a lot of them out there.  We'd have liked fewer miles, too (ours had about 70K at purchase, too), but then again, it's a Honda.  If it's been maintained well (and the seller can prove that) 70 or 80 thousand wouldn't worry me much.  I believe (could be wrong) that after '02 CRV's used a timing belt rather than a chain—if that's the case, you want to be sure that's been done on schedule, or that the price reflects the fact that you'll have to do it.

I was pretty impressed with the safety ratings.

Now I just have to find a fairly new one. I've seen one or two with around 70k miles.
I was hoping for lower mileage.
I'll see what I can find.

We have an '02.  Great little car.  140K with no troubles so far beyond a couple of really minor glitches (power outlet out, window switch funky, that kind of thing.)  Tall enough so you don't feel lost among the sea of pickups around here, big enough to be comfortable for us (though barely—someone much taller than my 6'-2" might feel a bit cramped.)  The seats are fine for around town, okay for longer trips.  Not fantastic—though again, we're on the larger size for it—smaller folks might find the seats better.  They aren't bad—we just notice that the truck's are a bit better.  Mileage last trip was just a hair over twenty with the cruise control pegged at 79—not bad for an all-wheel-drive.  And it served Ellie very well in a pretty hard rear-end collision.  It was a bit bashed up but not bad, considering how hard somebody hit it from behind.  Seems to have survived the repair with no ill effects.  All in all, I'd recommend one with few reservations.

What Scott and Lazyate said. And... slight pressure on the base of the skull, both sides, where it joins the neck. Find the two soft indentations there. That's where you put the pressure. These 'pressure points' will stop the nosebleed almost immediately. Also, up his intake of vitamin K, which helps the blood in clotting. And tell him to stop picking his nose.

But it's full of dried blood.

Direct pressure on the upper lip. Push straight back against the front teeth. The blood vessels that feed the insides of the nostrils run thru this area and that shuts off the tap long enough for clots to form.

Don't ask me why I know this.

Saline spray to help keep those vessels dry (less prone to bursting). When they're bleeding he should lean forward, pack it off with towels/gauze whatever. Don't put stuff in the nostrils because it can just cause more damage. The bleeding should stop on its own eventually . Don't tip the head back because you really don't want the blood running that way...

It went well.  It was just a hearing.  Basically, the DA is trying to get everyone off the docket, so he cut a deal for every person there.  Only a few are going on to see the judge.  Lots of folks got 10 - 15 hours of Community Service in lieu of the ticket.  The DA was generous to long-time drivers with clean records, but pretty strict with teenagers.  There were 4 17-yr-olds there who had been going over 47mph in a 30mph zone.  And in case it comes up, a parent must accompany the teenager (under 18 I think).

You are kinda watching the show already.

Mom turned out fine.  She said scary things about being a conservative, but I behaved. {#Silenced}  My husband enjoyed her so much, and misses her.  I've been extra nice to him since then.
