My reply to KfLQ was an inside joke that only someone who has lived in California for a long, long time would pick up on. Nothing more was added.
It was a Californian who picked up on that immediately and ran with it and made a mountain out what could have been left as a mole hill. He knew who the "Willie" was and exactly what I referred to. No one outside of the state would really know.
Do you or anyone else here know without googling ? I can discuss Harris at length from a whole different POV. I know her back story rather well. Do you want to go there ? If so, ask me over in the Biden thread so we can leave this one alone for the more mundane things it is meant for.

Oh, the second most powerful person in our country, the one a single heartbeat away from the presidency, is a squirrel ? Sorry. She is worthy of discussion for that reason alone if nothing else. We cannot discuss how qualified she really is for the job ? She hasn't got the skill set to do the weather for Death Valley on TV. A place where it is pretty much the same everyday.
What is relevant, then, is her qualifications for the position, and how she is performing in that position, How she got to that position is not really relevant. And the barb about having “slept her way to the top” historically and currently has only been applied to women, rendering it highly suspect, at best. I would say it is a meaningless pejorative.

To be honest, outside of that distraction, I do get a sense that Vice President Harris is out of place, somehow. A party creature. Plastic. That somewhere inside is a far more dedicated person, fraught with insecurity, and clinging. It comes out in her body language and speaking style. She would be crushed by the weight of decisions one office up. No disrespect meant. I'm positive that she has principled and endearing qualities. Just my opinion. She could be a Republican and/or man and it wouldn't matter. We all want the best for our country and the results of an ideological application of the Peter Principal is coming to an end.
