I wasn't completely dazzled either, but it was enjoyable. I like how it paid respect to the 1978 original (even aping the soaring opening titles) while creating new intrigue. The actors are well cast, but fall a bit short. Kevin Spacey has a nifty entrance as Lex Luther, then sulks through the rest of the picture. Parker Posey is almost completely wasted as his moll. I think I'm pretty much done with CGI, though. What can you say when the flying scenes in the Christopher Reeve films look better than in this?? Many shots of Superman, especially as he does his vertical levitation and the camera pans around him, look artificial. Brandon Routh's face looks synthetic. It reminded me of some of the scenes in MATRIX RELOADED, as Keanu Reeves (Neo) hovered over the one-hundred agent Smiths. Once the film looks like a Playstation game, my involvement becomes nil, and I just don't care about what happens. The recent SPIDERMANs have similiar problems for me.
