Here's a video of the "headwaters" of the Whitewater River that runs through the entire Coachella Valley of the day Hillary hit. Very scary...

Sorry. I can't get the video to post.

Why all the Burning Man schadenfreude? Where do I start ...
The great Burning Man Muddening of 2023 was almost scientifically engineered to evoke schadenfreude. Wealthy, insufferable attendees? Check. Improbable details, such as the fact that the rain was causing a bunch of three-eyed fairy shrimp, which can survive as eggs in sediment for decades, to come alive? Check. The fact that climate activists, angry about private jets and single-use plastics at the event, tried to shut down the festival and were jeered at by annoyed attendees, then vindicated by mother nature? Check. A situation that was uncomfortable but not life-threatening? Check!...

We've had almost 7" of rain between Hilary and a monsoon flow that came through here last Friday. All within a couple of weeks.
It dumped here in the Coachella Valley. Well in most places anyway.
The Whitewater Wash, which is the main drain from Whitewater Canyon to the Northwest of us, all the way to the Salton Sea... was flowing bank to bank. It was around 4-6 feet deep in most places. It isn't a little creek in width either.
Maybe 200- 300 yards apart.

Jeeez m' beez! - Thank God, the MSM & TABLOIDS seem to have something IMPORTANT to report, finally. - It sure takes a good (and quite woke) Sheriff to denounce such an un-awakened croud behavior (as if he himself ever was awakened..). - What seems important here, the media have some BS to report on, in order to keep us all entranced. - Or!

No?

Burning Man chaos: Sheriff denounces attendees for ‘lashing out at each other’ as they leave

The sheriff presiding over the Nevada county that hosts Burning Man leveled some harsh critiques of the tens of thousands of attendees Monday evening as “burners” left the desert art and music festival in droves, often leaving property behind on the muddy event field known as the playa.

In an exclusive statement to the Chronicle, Pershing County Sheriff Jerry Allen said the frustrated and “angry” attendees leaving the remote area of Black Rock Desert in northwestern Nevada County were “not showing compassion to their fellow man who have endured the same issues over the past few days.”

He also addressed the abandoned property and vehicles left behind in the muck, dispelled rumors of an Ebola or other illness outbreak, and provided more details on the playa death that is under investigation.

I believe it was at Woodstock 99 that the portapotties fell apart and so the "mud" that everyone was covered with wasn't...mud.

It looks to be a Woodstock style quagmire.

On a gluey playa, burners make the best of a sticky situation
