Behind the scenes, we're engaged in a really major update of our artist/album/song database. We're doing our best not to break things as we go, but of course we will. I agree, it's taken way too long to address some of these issues. This particular one is way, way more complicated than you'd expect & it'll probably be another couple of weeks before we're finished. But if you're someone who cares about such details I suspect you'll really like the update. The album listings will be way more accurate & comprehensive than in the past.
I also want to apologize for the lack of responses on this topic. We're all stretched really, really thin here & that leaves some big cracks for stuff to fall through. I don't like that, but there it is...
Thank you!

Awesome news, Bill. I don't think I've ever listened to any other station for 20 years, looking forward to the improvements.

Man, I love RP, I've turned dozens of people onto it, been listening for over 20 years, but with all the music options available out there now, not being able to easily skip means I'll be experiencing a whole lot less of RP,and I hate that. Are there any other devices I could buy that allow voice skipping? I'd buy another smart speaker setup just to be able to do this with RP.
As a small time software developer, I get it, but I know I speak for many users when I say this is a serious bummer. Any solutions would be fantastic.

#HugOps, as they say these days. Personally, I'll survive as long as the tunes are flowing in one way or another. Best of luck for the remaining construction work! ð¤

Hear you on that. Again - ever so much more complicated than you'd think. And in this case, I can't guarantee that the feature will be back any time soon.
Keeping it at this point would have required us to spend $10k-$20k on development for an Amazon-devices-only feature. We're no longer willing to do that. We'll be devoting our limited resources to developing features that benefit everybody.
We do have a possible solution that could be adapted for use on Alexa, but it's still in R&D mode.
Sorry. I know it was a neat feature when it worked.
Thank you for the response, William. This is really unpleasant news. We tried to use the Android app casting to the stereo to get away from Alexa, but the inability to *rapidly* skip pushed us back again. (Find the phone, wake up the phone, hit skip.) Are there any other options for skipping via voice control (Siri?) now or coming any time soon? Is there any progress on an integration with Home Assistant? Their voice assistant seemed like it wasn't fully baked when I tried it 6 months ago. I don't want to leave RP after 20+ years but there is some music we either don't like or have heard too often.

And it does sometimes... Sometimes it does not, and the Android Auto/RP UI does not work reliably (start, pause, play something different). I am not sure if this is one or more than one problems, but it appears to be related to how the stream caches, because if song X is displayed but the player isn't playing it, once I get the player working, song X invariably comes up in the next two or three songs. So perhaps RP is currently streaming song X but song X is not yet in my cache... When this happens, RP will frequently alternate between start and pause over and over.
I love RP, I'm not going anywhere, but I would really like to refine my bougie driving experience and have all of this work seamlessly.
We're working on a major update to our Android app. Should take care of that (& many other quirks & bugs).

This has been going on for months. Still not fixed. Have emailed tech support and gotten no response. Does RP not want us to find new songs from existing artists? Hope I am replying to the right thread here. I am blind, using a screenreader, and this forum setup is not screenreader friendly unfortunately. I've gotten spoiled over the past 23 years of listening to RP and the tech advances they have made, but not being able to skip on Alexa suddenly is a major bummer. This is my primary source of music throughout the day, and I'm more than happy to support you guys, but please please bring the skip functionality back to the Alexa skill. You guys are the best!

I can no longer skip songs in the Alexa app.
"Command not supported."
Is this an RP bug or has Amazon removed this command?
