I just remembered when a safety officer, or maybe the vice president in charge of not paying compensation, at another contractor working for the people we were contracted to decided that box utility knives were too dangerous and took them away. So a bunch of nearly new ones showed up in my office supply cabinet.
I use Oklahoma speed wrench all the time. And I have one marked in mm for when someone asks for a metric one.
In the bicycle shop, it was all specialty tools for everything because nobody had 8mm anything back then so when customers asked what tool something took, if we didn't know right off, we'd just say "universal metric wrench" and they'd usually say "hmm" and about 1 time in 12 (not a metric ratio), they'd get the joke.
Yeah, perhaps. The product name may vary by manufacturer. One of the bosses at a construction job I had, used to get annoyed when we would use trademarked names for our tools, e.g. "Sawzall" - reciprocating saw, "Skil-Saw" - circular saw, "Crescent" wrench - adjustable wrench, etc... Of course, after we learned that, we always used the trademarked names around him.

As one would.
I wonder whether he calls channel locks water pump pliers or groove pliers (I might have to adopt that, now that I think of it), or tongue-and-groove pliers.
But surely you have opened or cut apart boxes with your utility knife?
Oh yeah, all the time, especially if I can't find a box cutter. But I only do it if no one is watching.
Inversely, box cutters are not very effective for cutting things like sheet rock, linoleum, and carpeting.
Mm I always figured "utility knife" was just a marketing guy's way of not limiting its use to only cutting boxes.

Utility knife (like the one they pictured) and box cutter (which is what they titled that picture). Maybe I make those distinctions because I've had jobs over the years (construction/trades and retail/food service), where I've had to use one or the other on a regular basis, and specifically used those names for them.
