My Dad, a Tech5 in WWII, in France with the OSS training the French Marquis resistance. Was in the Yank Army Weekly Magazine 1944. The OSS was the predecessor to the CIA.
A guy in France contacted me a couple of months ago with info heâs been compiling for his research. The French are just releasing information now after 80 years.
In the Top Middle with gun.
Setting up 50cal. Jumping over a wall with his B.A.R.. The same wall today.

Cheers to all that served! Thank you for your service.
My dad was a 30+ year career Army officer & veteran of WWII & Korea. He enlisted in the 30âs as a buck private primary to have a paycheck to help his family of origin, being the eldest of 10 kids. He was brought back up in WWII & commissioned as an officer. He retired after 30+ total years as a decorated Infantry Lieutenant Colonel. I was born in an Army hospital & grew up on various bases in the US & Germany. At 19 I was drafted in the very last draft in 1972 & enlisted in the Navy, serving as a Vietnam Era veteran as an air traffic controller for 4 years. The war ended halfway through my tour & I was not deployed in a combat mission. My dad passed in November 1987 & I think of him often, honoring his service to the country he loved & the family he supported.
Shout out to buddy. Hope you are healing up ok. Also shout out to Hippie and any other vets out there, Radio Paradise and otherwise. .
I've been dealing with my medical issues with my kidney stones & bad infection & missed this. Back at you brother, your service mattered. Much love your way as always.
And thanks for the others of you that sent best wishes my way, it means a lot.
My dad quit in the 11th grade to join the Army in 1942. Here's to your dad.
My dad enlisted in the navy at the age of 17 in late 1945. By the time he was done with basic training the war was over but he went on to transfer to the air force then served a total of 21 years. Thanks Dad.
OK. I'm going to indulge your bad manners and disrespectful attitude and first say that I didn't start "that thread", but there are plenty including the anti war thread. You can take the time to look them up should you so desire to wax productive. Further, I'll explain the general objective of this thread in particular, which I didn't start either. It is to honor U.S. servicemen and women. There is no doubt that your point was valid, but your reasons for placing in this thread in particular seem askew. I'm not a forum monitor, but I am a veteran, and if you wish to carry this pointless parry further, lead on. Excuse me while I remove my halo...
