Well, he only cares about the southern border. Doesn't care about facts and studies that show benefits of immigration, focuses on racially divisive propaganda from this admin. Ignores that many undocumented immigrants (including a majority for many of the years he's been here ranting about immigrants), are simply visa overstays - and most of those don't fit the 'look' that appears targeted by those he cheers on. Plus many statements and comments about racial groups and his interactions with them. I'm not uncomfortable with the label.

Iâm an old white guy like you. But unlike you my car doesn't smell like pot. So I'll get even less scrutiny than you would.
Federales have been gone for a while now. The National guard is around. They are mostly kids doing their service. They might look scary, but if you talk to them in Spanish and offer them a cold coke, they are super friendly. We do also kick in for the local cops Christmas party. They are underpaid civil servants and that's their year end bonus. They are all generally helpful. If you are looking for corruption, head to the municipal government. And the permitting department. Too many gringos bribing to be able to get around local laws.
Happy to educate you further on your southern neighbors. If any of this ever gets through, you would see there is less to fear from them than there is from the boots so eagerly bow to.

I know you think the term 'Gringo' is derogatory (you certainly seem to enjoy using it that way), but it has a wide range of meanings, most of them very innocuous. Sometimes it can be used in a teasing way, other times in an endearing way, often it's just a descriptor - I often refer to myself as 'El Gringo' when meeting someone I've been texting because that is an easy/obvious tag that will make sense if I'm the only white dude in a crowd of Mexicans. I've been called that by guys who also refer to me as 'Hermano' who I've shared family dinners with. So call me what you want, I'll always try to take it in a positive way. A little more SOB (south of border, not the other one) education for you.
