Excellent just waiting on confirmation from Lazy give you guys a little time to have listened and will posting the songlist and theme explanation sometime next week.
Alas no fishing, I was taken out by Events. They were ones I was helping organize, but they took me out none the less.
I think I can be ready for July. I have one I'm working on that I think will be well received; I have a couple done that wouldn't be, so I'm holding out for the one I'm building.
Keep us posted, I had something in mind for July but it's only in the imagination stage at this point.
Lazy8 missed his May slot, probably busy fishing or something. Do you want to slide into July?

Well I will try my best to provide a review as clever as Miami's, but doubt it will measure up. That was pretty damn good!
As a kid I always fantasized about jumping a freight train like a hobo and riding out to experience the America that I really only knew of from books and TV. So I've always had a soft spot for train things. Now I can't remember the last time I've even seen a freight train, most of the old tracks are used for bicycles these days. Once I saw the cover art I was looking forward to the journey. Some thoughts as I gazed out the door of the boxcar.
Shocking Blue - I dug the flamenco style guitar work on this one.
Canadian Railroad Trilogy - Gordo is a Canadian National Treasure up there with Gretzky.
Gene Clark - Kind of a forgotten member of the Byrds. Had a Greatful Dead vibe, wonder if Jerry ever covered it.
Vigilantes of Love - I don't believe I've ever heard of these/this guy. I see he's from Athens, Georgia. Some good music came out of that little town.
The Autumn Hearts - Wow! These guys sound great! Totally in my wheelhouse. Favorite of the mix!
Carnival of Sorts - Speaking of Athens Georgia.
In a Boxcar - I'm jamming to this one, good thing I'm not driving as I think the gas peddle would be getting depressed.
Steve Lane - An Aussie? Don't think of trains there. Song title makes me think of Mussolini.
Runaway Train - A rare Tom Petty deep cut. Seems all his songs were hits.
Tishamingo - Clearly Allman Brothers Influenced
Bubblegum Lemonade - Interesting band name. Wonder if they got it from the Name My Band thread on RP.
Train Full of Gasoline - Sounds California-ish.
Aboard my Train - This Morby guy looks like a pretty productive cat, well travelled. I would like to explore more of his exploits.
Shake Some Action - Really good power pop, made me think of Big Star.
Silver Train - Good closing track, fit in tight with all the others.
This was a fucking GREAT mix! Loaded with good songs, mostly unheard before. I felt transported to Laurel Canyon, Mountains of Georgia, New Jersey and all points in between. I had a Trains, Planes and Automobile mix idea that never came to fruition. I won't even bother now as I don't think it would remotely measure up to this one. Nice job Conductor Kurt!
Thanks for the kind words. I always fret that I can do a decent enough job at these mixes.
I do try hard. Which usually results in dismalality.
I think trains are ingrained in all of us. Kind of like the ocean.
"Train Leaves Here This Morning" Gene Clark- The Eagles covered this gem on their first album. Back then I didn't realize Gene wrote it and did it before the Eagles. I always loved that song.
Tom Petty has a great selection of music that weren't "hits". I love the guitar in this one.
I found the Tishamingo song on a compilation disc I got up in Joshua Tree. It was from an older festival they have every year there.
Bubblegum Lemonade, Steve Lane and East Village I found listening to my favorite weekly show "It's A Jangle Out There".
And one must know... I have to include some Power Pop into all my music listening hourly.
Kind of self explanatory.
I always try to look for songs...
#1 I really like them. Yeah. Some probably think my songs are pretty simple and not "complex" enough. Oh well. I am a very simple man I guess.
#2 They can't be "run of the mill", "played to death" pieces. Most times.
There are a lot of train/ railroad songs out there. My inspiration came from riding the Verde Valley Railroad at Cottonwood, Arizona last Fall. They had a soundtrack playing in the background the whole train ride. Mostly the typical "train songs" that are overplayed. But there were a few gems here and there that caught my attention.
So that was the result of this mix.
Oh. Yes there's always a misspelled word somewhere in my artwork.
That back picture sleeve is actually a picture I took... not "borrowed".
It's an early morning shot of the abandoned Kaiser, Eagle Mountain Railroad. My son and I built a railbike and rode that line for about 15 miles. They've have since tore out those tracks.
