I believe McCarthy has said he will not run again.

Perhaps Matt Gaetz wants the Speakership. It doesn't really matter because things are going to slide into full-blown farce now.

Fair enough. Make it clear that the support is contingent on Ukraine funding and funding the government through the rest of the year.

Btw, can the democrats put in a motion to oust the speaker or does it have to be a republican?

It's a vote.  The Republicans have more of them by a small majority (a handful.. +/- a few).

It's possible that the Dems could cut a deal and grab enough votes to win...but it's very unlikely.

If that happened, we'd have to talk about the Trump gag order... and the election interference, First Amendment BS is just so tired.

Or we could talk about how pulling that fire alarm was a real act of insurrection.

I think that the Democrats should have voted for McCarthy as speaker. First, if the idea is that the government should first and foremost govern, then that is the best path forward. The upheaval and delays play into the hands of the right-wing. Second, it is the only chance of getting Ukraine aid passed and McCarthy would owe them one. Third, Gaetz would have bust an artery.

Is it possible that Gaetz could be any less likable?   Oh... never mind...he could be Jim Jordan.

If the democrats were smart they would be running a campaign against the trump-adjacent corruption. Especially against Jared Kushner and Ivana, Sydney Powell, Rudy. You get far more mileage out of that than out of bitching about the man himself.

A Mafia trope is “you may not be scared of us, but maybe you don’t want something to happen your wife and kid, eh tough guy?”
This is exactly what’s happening as the Trump machine goes after Hunter.

And so, exactly what is the holdup of going after the obvious nepotism that Ivanka and Jared were part of? Weird that they’re not being held to any responsibility. And, if a hidden agenda of the anti-Trump league is to bankrupt him, then besides trying up all his assets in court cases, they should simultaneously be bringing appropriate lawsuits against the others in the family. Do it all at once.

I hope the Dems put this in their campaign ads in the swing states. With some good Madison Ave style commercials they can do a good job of splaining what's to come if they go with Trump again. I don't think they need to keep throwing Jan 6th out there, its stale everyone has seen it at this point.

In the "you just can't make this shit up" category...

Here's how an event was reported yesterday in the MAGA-sphere by the Washington Examiner.

The House Ways and Means Committee released more than 700 pages of evidence on Wednesday that the committee said supported the Republican-led impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.

Committee Chairman Jason Smith (R-MO) summarized that the trove of material, provided to the committee by two IRS whistleblowers, showed Joe Biden's "political power and influence was 'the brand' that Hunter Biden was selling all over the world" and that it also "suggests an effort to sway U.S. policy decisions." ...

To publicize the release of this information, Chairman Smith decided to hold a press conference.  Here is the back-and-forth on the first question:
Yeah...Private citizen Joe Biden's son wouldn't "sell political influence" on What's App for his father...the former VP who is living in Delaware without a government job during the first Trump administration.

Evidence?  Facts?  They are so focused on creating "The Biden Crime Family" to somehow justify Trump, that they don't even recognize common sense.  If you want to see "evidence"...clink on the link to the MATERIAL above and take a look.  It's like copying the phone book, and suggesting you have 500 pages of detailed addresses and phone numbers of possible co-conspirators.

Can't wait to see all of the "proof" in the Biden thread this afternoon.

Just a teaser of the separation of church and state in our new and improved government: Health and Human Services plan - Goal #1 (page 450) :
