Should I let the app makers know or here on RP?
Check to see what stream you're connected to in TuneIn. That info can be buried (exactly where depends on what version of the app you're using), but is usually available somewhere — as is the ability to switch to a different stream. You're probably connected to one of the Ogg streams, which don't have the stream metadata.

Hmmm, drop outs to New Zealand are getting pretty high, both PSD 192k and 128m3u...6 in the last 15min? Just tried PSD to see what's up, whether it was this end, but all data streams at this end are all sweet. Anyone else having grief?

128k has been cutting out all day. I refresh, and it comes back on. Kinda annoying.

Let me know if a full-page refresh improves things.

Seems the song listing on the front page doesn't update regularly. Lags from time to time. This happens here at home (Safari 5.1.5) and at school on my lap top where I use a crappy Dell PC and Firefox. Just so you know. Others might have the same issues.

Beaker wrote: I understand. Where I notice the largest lag is when searching for any posts containing an existing username - ie posts responding to a specific user. As the username being replied is quoted, it appears no different than any other blob of text within the post body. Probably not much can be done about that then.
And that routine searches for 20 hits by default... and apparently searches until it finds 20 then quits. You or me, that's a quick search. A spammer or new person etc. the script must search back to the dawn of time before it gives up and displays their 3 posts ever. Maybe that search results could be limited to the last 30 days by default then opened up to "forever" manually by the searcher?

Beaker wrote:Forum searches are interminably slow. Have been for a while.
In this incarnation of the forum, are searches run against an existing index, or is a new index generated on the fly per search?
They're run against an existing index — but they're still full-text searches of a rather huge table, which is inherently going to be really slow. It would speed things up immensely to do a keyword index. Frankly, though, it's never seemed that critical. Given the social — as opposed to technical or informative — nature of the forum, most people never have any need to search it. So optimizing searches has never seemed like a worthy use of my time.

Hmmm... just checked that server & it looks fine. When I opened the editor to post this it seemed unusually snappy. I'll keep an eye on it.
