I'm sure glad I've got that $500(20 years ago plus accessories) bike out in the garage that wasn't touched all summer(baseball season).

You're right, track bike frames are not suitable for the road.

I know all about fixed-gear bikes but it's kind of an anomaly for that vintage; certainly not stock, correct? Raleigh offered a track bike to the general public in the 70s but it's not road-worthy... however I'm sure the Campy hardware could be switched over pretty easily. My nephew rides a fixed-gear but he does cyclo-cross.

EDIT:  Yes, true fixed gear bikes do not freewheel.  They're just like the tricycle you rode as a kid.

Recently acquired a much older H16, circa 1971, serial number 768, sail number 145.  Blue hulls and blue/white striped sails.

My wife can personally confirm that a Brooks leather saddle does not effectively lower your sperm count.  And it's very comfortable once you've broken it in (the saddle, I mean).
