So I was looking at some cool wood lights. They were all a lot more than I thought they should be. So then I was looking at the laser cutter in my shop and the spare pile of wood, then I spent $45 on lamp cord, some sockets and a cool globe that had been returned with a damaged box and some nifty LED bulbs. A bit of creativity and figuring out how the pieces would all fit together and these are the results:
Both are cool for their own reasons.

Why, thank you Cathy.
I'm not sure I can wheelie it like I used to back in the day.

The bars are new... I re-bent them a little.
The seat post is original. Along with the handlebar stem. And the sissy bar is the same one it came with. I replaced the crank around 1970. It is an original Schwinn part because I broke the one it came with in half. The wheels I replaced about the same time as the crank. I was hard on those items. The covers that rest on top of the forks are original.
When I was searching for parts before I decided to tear into this project... I came across a "original chain guard". They wanted $350. 00 for it!
I'm so glad my parents told me to "Take care of your bike. It's the only one you'll get."
And so... I've been damaged for life.

Where did you track down decals? Do they make them new or is that something you can print now?

My parents' old Schwinn shop is now a clothing boutique... there wasn't much in the way of vintage Sting-Ray parts but there were some cool things in the basement with zero ebay value now. If we'd been closer to a big city I probably could have loaded a trailer and sold a lot of it off to people like you.

There's surprisingly a lot of stuff out there for Sting Rays.
Decals... https://www.ebay.com/itm/31258...
Handle bars... https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.htm...
Well, it looks like I got one of the last sets of these. And they weren't really the right bend. They were more like the "Krate" bike bend they sold a few years after mine. I never did like the "Krate" bikes. Too dorky for me. I ended up bending them a little to match what I remember my original set felt like. What a memory!

The seats aren't quite correct nowadays. Lots of choices, but one must modify to make them work correctly.

I'm a sucker for the old parts!

I've been finding out a lot lately that parts are really getting hard to find for a lot of things. If you see something it has only "2 left"! And they aren't looking for restocking for months/ years away.
I just went through that with my new side view mirrors I bought for my Daytona clone. I found what I wanted and saved the search over a year ago. I decided to check on them a few weeks back and found out there was only one set left! I ordered them immediately...

Since I found out what original Schwinn Sting Rays are going for...  I decided to restore my original '63 my parents bought me when I was starting the 4th grade.
I last restored it about 25 years ago and went with a BMX look. This time around I went the "numbers matching" route.
These guys are going for over $1000.00 now. I saw one where somebody was asking $5000!
It rides real nice again.

What is the difference between an air fryer and a convection oven?

I didn't know there would be a quiz!

Linky.

My normal oven (European size, not North American size) has a convection setting. Sounds like yours is a happy medium.

Thanks for the words of encouragement... I think.

Zimmer  has been trying for years to get the "plastic" material to last more that 15 years.
Which, by the way,  was the standard lifespan for knee replacements.
They have now refined it to last twice that long.
I don't think you can beat that lifespan with any other material at this time.
And I'd rather do just this once for each knee.

My dad had his knees done twice. Starting first in the late 80's. Those first one's lasted about 5 years.
He had them replaced again and they started failing in less than 10 years.

I think the choice at this time, is going with what Zimmer has developed.
I don't drink water from plastic bottles... never have. I offset my plastic use way more than throwing all those bottles in the trash that aren't getting recycled.

So far I'm coming along just fine. It's been two full days since I had it done.
Walking around a little. Resting it some. Using the "rocking machine" some.
My first therapy is Friday. Then three days next week. Continuing on for the next month.
I need to get back to work!
