âStudent loan forbearance is set to end ⦠or is it?â < MarketPlace>. âPayments were paused more than two years ago at the start of the pandemic as part of the CARES Act; they are scheduled to start again on May 1, although there are hints it may be extended further. âThis is a monumental task to restart payments for 37 million borrowers,â said Daniel Mangrum, an economist at the New York Fed and one of the authors of the new report. âMillions of them have never made a payment because they graduated during the pandemic and have never had to make a payment before.â Easing people into that will be hard, but if you look at this as a game hot potato â the potato being the debt â itâs the government that is losing. âEighty-five percent of all outstanding balances are owned by the federal government. So essentially, this is kind of increasing the cost of the federal student loan program,â Mangrum said.â

There aren't any Krispy Kremes here either even though their headquarters are just 45 mins away. There weren't any in Petersburg either but there was one in Richmond about 30 mins from where I lived. None close to me now. The only place that sells dognuts here is Wal-Mart yum -NOT

I'm a sucker for their salt bagels... if they have them, not all outlets do. I also like the wraps. The only donuts in the world I find worth the calories and artery clogging are the cream-filled donuts from Egypt Star Bakery. Those bad boys weigh about a half-pound each.

Granted, I only hit a fast food place a few times a year, but I still can't recall the last time I got good service. Not since we've lived here. Not the entire time we lived in TN. Must have been the Dunkin' Donuts in Charlotte Harbor... I think its a cigarette store now. That was over 4 years ago.

beamends wrote: I think they need to look at the 'success' assorted failed attempts to do this over the years (works canteens being the biggest culprit). I'm not a huge fan of McDonalds, but on the occasions I do visit and it's busy the hold up is always too many staff falling all over each other and getting little done (mind you the poor staff probably can't think with all those bloody alarms going off all the time). Would I buy a meal from a hole-in-the-wall? No way. And I'm certainly not paying with plastic. I rarely eat there also. In fact I only ever go in when its the only place open, usually in the dead of night. Thus its expected that the staff will be useless - they have been up all night! But the contrast with subway and the like is pretty shocking - subway manages to have a production line system, maintain some quality of food and pass all the confusion onto the customer. edit: There is an automated toastie vending machine on campus, and it is pretty good. A little expensive, but great if you pull and all-nighter in the library.
