I'm coming up only to hold you under
I'm coming up only to show you wrong
And to know you is hard we wonder
To know you all wrong we were
Really too late to call
So we wait for morning to wake you
That's all we got
to know me as hardly golden
Is to know me all wrong, they were
At every occasion I'll be ready for the funeral
Every occasion, once more, it's called the funeral
Every occasion, know I'm ready for the funeral
At every occasion, oh, one billion day funeral
I'm coming up only to show you down
For I'm coming up only to show you wrong
To the outside the dead leaves, they're on the lawn
Before they died, had trees to hang their hope
And every occasion
I'll be ready for the funeral
And every occasion once more
It's called the funeral
And every occasion
Oh, I'm ready for the funeral
Every occasion
Of one billion day funeral
I'm coming up only to pull you under
I'm coming up only to show you wrong
To know you is hard we wonder
To know you all wrong we were
Oh oh oh
Oh
Its really to late to call so we wait for
Morning to wake you is all we got
And to know me as hardly golden
As to know me all wrong they were
At every occasion I'll be ready for the funeral
At every occasion once more called the funeral
At every occasion I'll be ready for for the funeral
at every occasion oh one brilliant day funeral
I'm coming up only to show you down for
I'm coming up only to show you wrong
To the outside the dead leaves they're on the law
For they don't have trees to hang their own
Oh oh oh
At every occasion I'll be ready for the funeral
At every occasion once more called the funeral
At every occasion I'll be ready for the funeral
At every occasion oh one brilliant day funeral

Everyone? I very rarely find a song which is better than the original version.
I disagree. Fields of Gold by Eva Cassidy exceeds the original by Sting. I understand that he agrees with that assessment.

Great song.
Bad cover.
Bad cover.

Is It O.K.?
It's only just O.K.
Makes me wanna hear the original.

It would be hard to make a song called Funeral more funereal like - but I think they managed it!
Perfect example of taking a perfectly good song and making it worse...and for what reason?

worse than the original, who would've thunk?

Just unnecessary
A funeral is more fun
I gave this a 2 before? Bleh. 2 -> 1.
Not a patch on the Band of Horses version (as on the Danny MacAskill video)

Pretty! Like the original and like this too. Thanks Bill for another awesome cover I'd never had heard anywhere else but here.
Magic Maple Syrup.

I like this version alright, different from the Orig, for sure, but that's ok. I know all the haters will hate me for saying it, but c'mon all you haters, at least Serena is trying to make some interesting music (oh boy, the haters will hate me now!)
Though I did like the comment about the musicians being sedated on maple syrup. Funny!

it's not OK at all
I'd like this version if the singer would only wake up.
woot. this song actually has lyrics?

May have been more enjoyable if I knew the original (e.g. Tori Amos' version of "Smells like Teen Spirit"). Only positive I can glean out of this slow track.
Gawd, wha' a downa, had to switch to an other station.
Terrible to awful cover. Gets a 1.
Wow I like the version usually played on RP...this one stinks!
Would have preferred Funeral for a friend or Beethoven's requiem then this after the news that Alvin had passed.
I just fell asleep.... woke up and it was still on.... what an unfortunate cover of a GREAT tune....
Completely destroyed this great song - sounds like a dirge, lacking all the power of the band of horses original.

oops - wrong album, Bill. It's on the "Serena Ryder and the Beauties" ep.

Sounds like these musicians were heavily sedated on maple syrup or something when they recorded this cover... pure muzak (music + Prozac)...

Yes I was thinking the same lily34 ... But the BOHorses rendition was/is an all male group, but this is a nice cut all the same.

It didn't explode. You are right, it shoulda. Felt like a big tease with no reward.
I keep waiting for this to explode.. into a wonderful crash of sound and, you know, freaking Rock 'n Roll.
It does explode, doesn't it? Cause, I think it kinda oughtta.

Concur with rcurryer. This is kind of tedious. Keep the covers coming, though.
A very bad cover, it fails completely in grasping the meaning and the essence of the original. How to destroy a great song ...
I guess a dirge-like take on the song is appropriate in some way, but I'm finding it monotonous and kinda boring without the dynamics of the original version.
And I almost always like the weird-ass cover versions Bill is so fond of.

Interesting take on a pretty good song - but then again, I'm a sucker for women singers
I love the original version of this song, and this cover sounds quite nice. Haunting vocals.
band of horses?
