My wife and I played this album frequently while heading out to our summer backpacking trips in Colorado. Great album. Loved seeing Nanci Griffith at the Rocky Mountain Folk Festival in Estes Park.
I have more Nancy Griffith CDs and albums than any artist but the Beatles. Saw her at her height aft Symphony Hall in Boston, with Iris Dement.
I hope Nanci and John are singing together again. They are sorely missed. At least we still have this.

I had a chance to see her live in 2006 here in Phoenix. Great show and I'm sorry she's left us.

To be honest, I like the Alabama 3 version best. Saved an otherwise quite boring song in my eyes.
Great John Prine tune, though I like Nanci's version a little less, even with John singing background
excellent cover cd, but I never read the book.
