Funny how I find myself in love with you
If I could buy my reasoning I'd pay to lose
One half won't do
I've asked myself, how much do you
Commit yourself

It's my life
Don't you forget
It's my life
It never ends (it never ends)

Funny how I blind myself, I never knew
If I was sometimes played upon, afraid to lose
I'd tell myself, what good do you do
Convince myself

It's my life
Don't you forget
It's my life
It never ends (it never ends)

I've asked myself, how much do you
Commit yourself?

It's my life
Don't you forget
Caught in the crowd
It never ends

It's my life
Don't you forget
Caught in the crowd
It never ends

It's my life
Don't you forget
Caught in the crowd
It never ends

I can't explain, but I love the tambourine hits in the chorus.
came to bump it up by 1 - already a 10...
Wow... I remember the MTV video of this, with shots of Mark Hollis in front of the animals in the London Zoo interspersed with film of those loping along the grass of the veldt, and finishing with kangaroos watching the setting sun... It was fantastic...surreal...and as indelible in my mind as the music itself!
An iconic one of a kind band.  Truly love everything they did.  Uplifting, inspirational to a fault.

RIP Mark. You are missed my brother.
Is there an 11 for It's My Life?

Their version is good - the way they accentuate the bass line - a lot of energy and all, but of course, it's nowhere near as good as this.

I agree, the No Doubt version really nails it with the bass line...a Talk Talk version with the bass pumping more like that would rock.  Gwen isn't as good on vocals, that's probably the biggest difference.

No Doubts version is basically karaoke.

Pretty sure you were right - perhaps there used to be an extra copy in Bill's library?

Gwen likely agrees with you
GREAT TUNE! ....Bill should play it more often!
Never fails to lift and inspire. Exceptional tune.

Spacey's Life Rules To Just Go By: Never trust anyone who doesn't clap (on the beat) when the words "It's my life," just a hair's-beat after "life," first come in. NEVER!
{#Devil_pimp}still zesty ! rip

Apparently I've gone about 15 years being familiar with the No Doubt version of this song without realizing it was a cover!

So many songs like this; where i think its an original for years, then i finally hear the actual original. most of the time i've come to know the cover so well i prefer it. makes you think about how you would feel if you had heard the first one first... then question how your whole life is in sequence and nothing you can do can change how you've gotten to where you are now. your opinions have formed organically so own them, they are yours.
If one song could capture being an early 20-something "kid," with the whole world in front you, this would be it. And that is why this is a 10 for me.
OK, ok now you gotta add some Talk Talk to the rotation...
After releasing a solo album in 1998, Hollis left music behind and removed himself from public view.

Obituary: Mark Hollis When asked about the decision, he said: "I choose for my family. Maybe others are capable of doing it, but I can't go on tour and be a good dad at the same time."

Always good to see someone put family above ambition.

   RIP Mark

RIP Mark Hollis.
Difficult to understand why this has never been played…
TT seem to be held in high regard by Bill as well as the listeners…
This is definitely one of the best early/mid TT songs...
