All the angels on the wire
Getting dizzy from the heights
Go carefully, carefully
Oh, airstream driver
She shoots but never misses
Stare down, passin' traffic
Go carefully, carefully
Oh, airstream driver
I would return the favour
Oversleep the rapture
Go carefully, carefully
Oh, airstream driver
Your watermelon candy mouth
The penthouse at the sands
Go carefully, carefully
Oh, airstream driver
Go go go go carefully, airstream driver
Getting dizzy from the heights
Go carefully, carefully
Oh, airstream driver
She shoots but never misses
Stare down, passin' traffic
Go carefully, carefully
Oh, airstream driver
I would return the favour
Oversleep the rapture
Go carefully, carefully

All I could hear in the lyrics was "go go go get cat food". What a strange song.

Too cool!
Thanks for this chronicle! I'd never seen one of these before now.
Do you care to enclose a photo of your Tortuga Blanca? Even if it is not in the Airstream tradition, it sounds pretty interesting!

NASA uses a vintage AIrstream motorhome to take astronauts from the Command Center to the launch site

Airstream is now using the Mercedes Sprinter as a compact motorhome, priced at $127K+++

I don't know. . . I'd say these is a good chunk of listener control. I often see new tracks that have pretty dismal ratings and don't seem to get played again. That is not to say Bill has his faves that linger here, and that is fine too.

Yeah, know what you mean. I love RP, but some songs/artists seem to be played way too much (Gomez, Coldplay, U2, Neko Case...). It seems like the music's aimed more at the 'every now and then' listeners as opposed to someone like me who listens at work every day...
I never used to notice this much repetition (been listening for years), it seems like a fairly recent thing..?
Don't get me wrong - RP is still the best thing out there by a looooooong way. I even managed to convince my boss to let me hook up some speakers so the whole room can enjoy :)

Gomez is extremely diverse. Sometimes that is good, sometimes not so much. This one is good.
This song has the most unexpected and satisfying drum solo, however brief.

Wait a second, you could argue that the auto-companies were only giving the people what they wanted. Until gas prices started to spike, sales of the gas guzzlers were high. People wanted the big SUVs and half-tons. Even now sales of half-ton trucks are strong. I agree that the companies were very happy to sell the big vehicles to people because they made a bigger profit on them. In addition they did fight tooth and nail against higher emission and gas millage standards, so they certainly have to shoulder some of the blame, but lets not forget that most consumers weren't marching in the street demanding better gas mileage and smaller vehicles. I remember when Gomez were a big deal. Then they vanished. Wonder why? RP seems to be the only place I hear them regularly.
Naive... sooo nice
I love the opening to this...but then it morphs into something familiar yet lost in a dusty corner of my attic. I hear strains that remind me of a femalele singer or girl group who did something similar to this in sound and structure...but I'm damned if I can recall who. i'm slipping for sure.
Great song! Nice Ian performance on vox.

I'm SOO sick of this song!!! Its here everyday and on every damn clear channel radio station. Enough already!!!
They played this live during SXSW on KUT. John Aielle went off on a tangent about the similarities of this song and "Walk Like an Egyptian". Gomez noted that they didn't write it, and that they were all about grade-school age when the Bangles released that.
But he just went on and on and on about it.
I am glad the rest of the world takes the song for what it is, and doesn't go down the same rabbit trail as KUT's guy did.

I'll have to give this a few more listens before I can truly rate it. But overall, Gomez really peaked with "In Our Gun"....what an incredible album. The albums since then have been ho-hum with spots of great songwriting.
Thought he sang extreme driver...
