Come count them ways to forever
Remember the winter gets cold in ways you always forget
Oh, you know... The rhythm and soul
Get your hands out your back pockets, boy let it go
Here comes the man you saw in Kazan,
He just picks in his coat... Oh no
The rhythm and soul.
Dollars and cents and no accident
Not in the name of democracy.
Come get there, come be there
Come let your socks fall down to your shoes
Oh, you know... The rhythm and soul
Get your ankles moving their sockets
Oh there you go
And here comes the man
He bought a gift from Kazan
He can't leave it alone... Oh no
The rhythm and soul
When you take a picture and it falls in the lot... Oh no, no
Take another picture and you spring in the trap... Oh no, no
You miss home
You can't back this at your ride
Change of tide
And you're wise, you're wise
Rhythm and...
Tracked houses, square couches,
Short legs and square shoulders,
Pot holders, aching soldiers,
Your tank rollers, your all-overs
And you know, oh the rhythm and soul
Get your fingers moving their sockets
Tune in Tokyo
You're just the man
The one I saw in Kazan
Wonder what this book will throw... Oh no
The rhythm and...
Ha! I know the feeling. I just went to rate this and realized I'd already given it a 9.
I actually keep a book on my desk (where I listen to RP when at work) and I keep a list on the back page of all the new bands I've been introduced to that I need to further explore. Would be helpful to have a bookmark feature on RP to make note of songs and artists that caught our ear.
Spoon can do no wrong in my eyes (or ears). My favorite band that continues to put out great music, and actually get better with age.
You're right but Girls Can Tell is one of my all time fav records. It had a time & place in my life. i wish RP would play songs from it.....
You're referring to a "sizzle" or "swish" cymbal.
Older designs were a thin cymbal (disk) with rivets loosely threaded through holes near the disk's perimeter. When the cymbal is struck, the rivets jump around in the holes, essentially making dozens of tiny additional cymbal strikes, creating the "sizzle". The amount and duration of "sizzle" depends on the disk thickness, the number and weight of rivets, and proximity of the holes to the disk edge.
In a new substitute; drummers drape a metal beaded chain on the cymbal stand above the disk. When the cymbal is struck, the beaded chain works like the old-school rivets, bouncing around and creating multiple tiny strikes.

Nice, apart from that horrible splashy cymbal/percussion in the chorus.

I think many of us do listen to this station all day.
all nite long
You rock thx.

I know how you feel. After a couple of years I am still only able to identify 1 in 10 or even less. Sometimes I get a good run and can identify most of the bands on the playlist for a while then Bill throws a curved ball and I have to get up and look over at the PC streaming the music and find out who it is. I then say to myself "I must remember this one" but I seldom do. My memory is not as good as it once was and so I do everything I can to exercise it and that is why, apart from the actual music, I listen to RP.

When I find an interesting band I put the name in a draft email that gets saved in my drafts folder. When I get home I can access it and spark the ole memory.
J'aime ce groupe de plus en plus. Merci RP
I like to buy the hoodies and T's , give them as gifts

Another prime example of what makes RP kick extra Ass - the two comments below this one, in reply to ChrisVIII, all non-Americans and LOVING on BillG's internet radio station "broadcasting" about 700 miles away from me. And that's so cool; really, it's exactly what's GOOD about the internet....making us (the PEOPLE) have an easier chance communicating together in this GLOBAL world we share.
Long Live RP!! And I've got this Spoon song rated an 8 currently and to hell with it → 9 PEACE
It's a pity though that after so many years listening to RP I still cannot name or remember more than 10% of all the artists I discovered :(
i used to listen to RP because I could focus on my work without humming since i didn't know the songs but know this technic doesn't work any more, I keep listening to it at work because somehow the playlist matches my mood (or is the playlist setting my mood ?). In any case, I love it :)
totall agree with the part "feel the need to rate and paf, already dit it"....
but disagree with the "cannot name or remember" ....
i can remember a big part of all nice gems RP made me discover.
When i started to listen RP, i had a text file to list all songs i was happy to discover, and it was at least 3 or 4 times a day i had to stop working to add another line on my RP list.
thanks Bill

Telephono is a must.
I remember reading they got their name from the song "Spoon" by the Krautrock band, CAN.
100% agreement!
Highly recommend: Kill The Moonlight, Gimme Fiction, Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga. Have them all and these are my fave.
GORGEOUS!!
This like the rest of their songs is like listening to paint dry. Boring, boring, boring.
Smells like it too!

Yes I do, but first I need talent and material . Thanks kaybee.
that singer from Spoon,
He's got good rhythm and he writes a good tune,
that singer from Spoon,
I've been a fan for awhile at least since June,
of that singer from Spoon,
He went to a wedding but he wasn't the groom,
that singer from Spoon,
If you insult him I'll have to leave the room,
that singer from Spoon,
It would be a shame if he joined a platoon,
that singer from Spoon,
He loves to sing and to stare at the moon,
that singer from Spoon,
His favorite book is a novel called "Dune"
that singer from Spoon,
He's been up in the sky in a beautiful balloon,
that singer from Spoon,
He just told me to stop because I sound like a loon,
that singer from Spoon.
You gotta get an agent, peter_james!

Yet another killer hook from the Pride of Austin. One of the Prides, anyway.

Very good album from an artist I first got into through RP. Thanks, Bill!
