The breath of the morning, I keep forgetting
The smell of the warm summer air
I live in a town where you can't smell a thing
You watch your feet for cracks in the pavement

Up above, aliens hover making home movies
For the folks back home
Of all these weird creatures who lock up their spirits
Drill holes in themselves and live for their secrets

They're all uptight, uptight
Uptight, uptight
Uptight, uptight

I wish that they'd swoop down in a country lane
Late at night when I'm driving
Take me on board their beautiful ship
Show me the world as I'd love to see it

I'd tell all my friends but they'd never believe me
They'd think that I'd finally lost it completely
I'd show them the stars and the meaning of life
They'd shut me away
But I'd be all right, all right
I'm all right, all right

I'm just uptight, uptight
Uptight, uptight
Uptight, uptight
Uptight, uptight

{#Smile} Exactly. Drunken Bono doesn't sound bad, though.

I get this image of Belushi as Bluto yanking the guitar from Yorke and smashing it to bits on the wall.

It's a happy thought.

+1
Wow. Who'd think you could do this both ways?

Somehow this is too subdued, needs more urgency, power, drama...

Well there is always the original version of the song for that.  This is the subdued acoustic version with less urgency, power and drama.

Hey, even Radiohead does bad covers of Radiohead

I have never heard this version of my favorite Radiohead song, nice.

Bill, Thanks again for treating us to some truly amazing music. Your ability to find a band's best songs and variations of them is unique. Thanks so much.
I couldn't agree more. Oh by the way Reindeer you couldn't give the bloke with the big white beard a nudge, I wouldn't mind a digital SLR for Christmas this year. Cheers!

Man, it's the meandering guitar lines in the original that make it a great song. This is OK, but it just makes me long for the original. And as someone that generally hates Thom's voice, I would have imagined it to be much worse on an acoustic number than it is.

Amen. It's easy to forget that Yorke and Radiohead work out their songs acoustically before they get into the electronica. Some of us prefer the rawer versions.

I, for one, would love to see a reality show where smug Radiohead fanatics are forced to live in a house with arrogant Pink Floyd cultists. Watching the two groups debate over which band is the undisputable Best Band Ever until violence erupts would be a hoot. The only drawback would be the lack of hot babes since I doubt the members of either cult ever get laid.
Hey! Are you saying I'm NOT a hot babe? Sign me up to represent the arrogant Pink Floyd cultists. (Although, I do like Radiohead an awful lot.)

LOL, I'm calling up CBS right now!

No its a pretty on point title. Truth hurts sometimes!
"Truth?" You want some truth? Radiohead are just a band, not gods. They have their fans and their detractors, just like anyone else. They've had an admirable run of critical praise combined with commercial success, but so have many, many, many other bands, some of whom have done it a lot longer with far greater reviews and sales. To say that Radiohead tower above the Beatles, for example, is utter folly. The Beatles were bigger than Jesus. Radiohead barely qualifies to lick the soles of Jesus' sandals. Fantastic song. Fantastic version.

Good thing I was distracted while this was playing. I like Radiohead but this is just plain awful! I thought it was Jeff Buckley for a moment
Where can I download this version? Can anyone send this exact version to me? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
I've never heard this version, but knew what it was instantly. Pretty cool.

"Towering Above The Rest"? Nice name for a bootleg. I'm starting to think Radiohead fans are even more pretentious than the band.

Intriguing, but not up to the original. Mixed feelings on this one.

Oh my goodness was that ever awful.
When you figure the original of this song is astonishing this is still pretty damn good.
what... Hogtied?
still greatly overrated
Wow wow wow... thought I couldn't love Radiohead enough. LOL at AnnieBear...
Most Excellent! The production of the original tends to consume some of the lyrics. Listen up folks! This is poetry!
This gets a "no."
The normal version is AWESOME, this is marginal. This whole set is putting me asleep this morning.
WOW!!!! I frelling love this song in the original version, and this is just AMAZING!!!!! Thank you for playing this, please play it again!!!!! "I'd tell all my friends / but they'd never believe me / they'd think that I've finally lost it completely"
Marginally better than usual. That ain't saying much.
Sounds like the lead singer of Stereophonic. (a good thing)
Oooooh! Nice version of one of my favorite songs. Goes to show you that under all the slick techno production there is still a very high quality song underneath.
Nice!
Interesting variation. Me likey.
