Avalanche is sullen and too thin
She starves herself to rid herself of sin
And the kick is so divine when she sees bones beneath her skin
And she says:
Hey baby can you bleed like me?
C'mon baby can you bleed like me
Chris is all dressed up and acting coy
Painted like a brand new Christmas toy
He's trying to figure out if he's a girl or he's a boy
And he says:
Hey baby can you bleed like me?
C'mon baby can you bleed like me
Doodle takes Dad's scissors to her skin
And when she does relief comes setting in
While she hides the scars she's making underneath her pretty clothes
She sings:
Hey baby can you bleed like me?
C'mon baby can you bleed like me
Therapy is Speedie's brand new drug
Dancing with the devil's past has never been too fun
It's better off than trying to take a bullet from a gun
And she cries:
Hey baby can you bleed like me?
C'mon baby can you bleed like me
JT gets all fucked up in some karaoke bar
After two drinks he's a loser after three drinks he's a star
Getting all nostalgic as he sings "I Will Survive"
Hey baby can you bleed like me?
C'mon baby can you bleed like me
You should see my scars
You should see my scars
You should see my scars
You should see my scars
And try to comprehend that which you'll never comprehend
She starves herself to rid herself of sin
And the kick is so divine when she sees bones beneath her skin

cool tune in its way (but ooof brought to mind a sweet woman from back in '86 who several times cut herself just for whatever... did not follow through with that "relationship" - they're out there folks)
My favorite Garbage track, by far.
Great song. A band I original thought was just some passing one hit wonder when they first came out, 20 years later I am still impressed with their work; old and new.
I like this band quite a bit, but this is not my favorite track. There are several song on Not Your Kind of People (the newest album at time of writing) that I think RP listeners would dig.

Then I saw it was me who wrote it 4 years back. Well, good to see I still agree with whatever I thought then.
I forgot that this is a pretty good song. How apt to hear some Garbage on here again what with the new album around the corner.
Definitely thrilled about the end of their hiatus.

More Garbage Bill!!!! :) ♥
Everybody in my assisted-living facility loves Garbage.
Everybody in my mushrooming multitude of churches be dancing buck ass naked all over the world like bowlegged gypsy muleskinners... we love this song... it tweaks our nipples... love sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll...
Sounds like she was listening to Take a Walk on the Wild Side a bit too much that day

I really like the vocals, the overall composition, the theme. Best song I've heard on RP for a long while. Where have I been?

Yes! Me too. Some LJ on RP would be refreshing.

Actually I'd like to hear some Luscious Jackson.
The melody reminds me a bit of U2's The First Time... I like it.
I find the lyrics pretty spot on. I'm an 'old' and I remember feeling like this. So. Let's not dismiss the starvers, the cutters, the posers. With luck we find our way out eventually.
haunting but pollyanish.
Sounds like "Naked Eye" by Luscious Jackson...
Finally, an F-bomb!
She described my every karaoke experience....after 3 drinks I'm a star!
used to love Garbage, now I'm kind of bored.
Great Band, Decent Song, Atrocious Album...Fit Singer
Good band, good song.
Bad band; weak song.

This is like bad junior high school poetry complete with the self-mutilaiton references. I've like their stuff in the past, but it's getting less interesting.

I like their older stuff.

What happened to Jackie? I hear (s)he thought (s)he was James Dean for a day.

I don't agree. It's a very good song but far from the best from this album. Run Baby Run, It's All Over But the Crying and Happy Home are all great. In fact, I think Happy Home is so good it can contend for Garbage's all-time Top 5 or Top 10.
this is the best song off their new album - really the only one worth playing. Play more old garbage!

One of their best tunes!
Heartwrenching lyrics:

She sings:
Hey baby can you bleed like me?

Everything Liz Phair wishes she could be.

This I hardly recognized ... and then I realized it's, well ... its garbage
Me to....not garbage song I would miss. And I couldn't give a shit about her scars...
Shirley RAWKS!!!
I can't remember where I heard this story, maybe from the source:
Garbage was doing a photo shoot for the cover of Spin (several yrs ago) and just as they were snapping, she peed on the floor. They photoshopped it out.

such a positive, uplifting message for the youth of today!!!
Ooh, didn't like that.

Or, alternately, one could click on the SONG LYRICS link above... (and save having to scroll half a page down to find meaningful posts)
Likeable tune, though there are many more from Garbage I prefer over this...a little too "airy" for them.
Sorry, but I find Garbage's "I'm so depressed" attitude unconvincing.
I like this one.
I was going to bag on this song, until I heard this lyric:
JT gets all fucked up in some karaoke bar
After two drinks he's a loser after three drinks he's a star
Getting all nostalgic as he sings "I Will Survive"
How many times have I been right there. Sad, I know.

I like Beautiful Garbage. I think of the first album as the band finding their sound. With Version 2.0 they define their sound. And with BG, they refine it. I like all three.
That said, this is the best song off their new album - really the only one worth playing.
I can't agree with that. I find "Run Baby Run," "The Boys Wanna Fight," and "Why Don't You Come Over" more energizing myself.
Play more old garbage!
Play ANY Garbage.
Didn't Hole do a song with the phrase "bleed like me" in it too?
Hmmmm...if you can't say something nice...I'll be quiet now
I always thought this band had a very interesting, great sound. They still have, but they used to combine that with good songs. I can't say I'm too impressed about this one, in that respect.

Yeah, we want old Garbage...new Garbage stinks!
I love the double-bass part, it reminds me of the heavy hair rock bands - very cool usage here!

Havn't been too impressed with what I've heard from this album so far, but I like this one.

I was thinking Suzanne Vega. Pretty good tune tho
This is cool. I hear hints of the Breeders, and a bit of that song about any idiot can be whatever for a day that we hear on RP once in a while, but just hints.

As with the "new" Fiona Apple...
Damn it's nice hearing guys like this evolve. For musicians... as far as I am concerned, it's evolve or die.
This is nice... really nice.
