Saturday Morning
And who's gonna play with me?
Six in the morning, baby
I got a long, long day ahead of me

The parents are sleeping soundly
The neighbors are dead as wood
I'm getting up and coming over
We gotta rock the neighborhood

Nothing's ever gonna happen 'round here
If we don't make it happen
Sleep away the day if you want to
But I got something that I gotta do

It's Saturday Morning
And this ain't the place for me
I'm giving you warning, baby
We got a whole big, fat, world to see

Nothing's ever gonna happen 'round here
If we don't make it happen
Sleep away the day if you want to
But I got something that I gotta do

It's Saturday Morning
And who's gonna play with me?
Six in the morning, baby
I got a long, long day ahead of me

Saturday morning
Saturday morning

This is the genius of Mark Oliver Everett - the man can not only write heartbreaking ballads accompanied by beautiful, mellow melodies, but can put out a freakin' catchy banger like this!
The man is an inspiration

Oh gosh, I didn't make that link until I saw this comment, but it makes so much sense. You, sir (or ma'am) are an auditory genius. ;D
i watched looney toons and merrie melodies cartoons starting very early every saturday morning, having original cheerios for breakfast, while my parents were asleep or my dad was already out golfing for the day. pretty idyllic, maybe.

i love this song.

Boy are you dating yourself with *that* reference! :-)
Well, at least for me, on this particular occasion...its appropriately playing on a Saturday morning;...but I do get to live in the same time zone as BillG, so maybe he was playing it just for us left coasters...
I like it!

Austin - Today’s Washington Post reports that a compact disc clearly marketed towards children containing offensive language was handed out in a ‘gift bag’ at last month’s Democrat National Convention.  The report comes just ten days after Al Gore said he would take a “tough line” with Hollywood executives who market inappropriate material to children.

“America's parents can't count on Al Gore to protect their kids from Hollywood's inappropriate marketing practices," said Bush spokesman Dan Bartlett.  "If the Democrats didn't stop Dreamworks from handing out a CD with explicit lyrics at a convention under their control, why will they stop Hollywood from marketing the same material to children at other venues?"

Offensive CD Distributed at DNC Fundraiser
During a fundraiser at the Democrat National Convention, a compact disc, “Daisies of the Galaxy,” by Eels was handed out.  Democrats say the CD was not meant for or given to children, but the material was directly marketed for children.  The CD features cartoon children on the front cover, but contains songs such as “It’s a MotherF@#%&#” and lyrics like, “When I grow up, I’ll be an angry little whore.”

CD Produced by Gore’s Prominent Fundraiser Friends
The “Daisies of the Galaxy” CD was produced by Dreamworks, which is run by Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen - three of Al Gore’s most identifiable contributors.  In this election cycle alone, the trio has contributed a total of $525,000 to the Democrat National Committee, Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. Yes cartoons are strictly for children!  Like South Park, American Dad and Family Guy.  How I wished there was that kind of cartoon programming during my childhood.  Stuck with Davey and Goliath  clay-animated from the religious right with their morals.  Not that's a terrible thing but it was eye opening when SNL brought out Mr. Bill and Sluggo a la Gumby.
This, like many Eels tunes, is a quirky mixture of melody, musical style, witty lyrics, and emotional exposure.  Love.

PS:  Thanks to Bill and RP for introducing me to this (disgusting, perverted attempt to corrupt children) fabulously talented musician/group.  Bought a bunch of their music through the RP linky thingy.

Buen sonido!
'Kinell! An Eels song with a bit of life and zip. Makes a nice change from the usual lullabies. 7 from the surprised Nottingham jury.
Ohhh...Yeah!
My favorite Eels song EVER.......thanks for playing!
I was introduced to this band (guy) by Bill and Radio Paradise.  Aint' life grand?  Thanks, Bill!
Yup its Saturday morning 6:06 and Eels is singing "It's saturday morning And who's gonna play with me". I am rocking to this great tune. The lyrics don't match my situation with young kids sleeping instead of the parents. I'll have to listen to this song and more of Eels work as this was great.

It's 9:00 in the morning on Saturday here, but I think where Bill is it's 6:00 AM, just like the song says.  Coincidence?

Yiss, tha'ud be "I'lls Smills innit?"
The rhythm guitar sounds a lot similar to the Hives' "Hate to say I told you so".
Just what I needed to make it through another night of finals week!!!

Sounds just like the previous song. Maybe the eels can sell cell phones or cars, or whatever. Plastic junk!

Parts get a tepid "yes"; parts get a solid "no."
Is this the Velvet Underoos?
OOoooooh yeah! This one just rolls! I remember Saturdays like this.

Your wish is granted today. This song sounds very dandy to me. :)
This song just rocks. The only thing I would change would be to get some ladies to sing the falsetto part. E can't quite hit the high notes.
Two of my faves in a row...thank YOU!
the more i hear it , the more i love it!

I liked this song even better earlier today.
Uh, "Saturday" seems to come quite a bit more here than once a week lately.....
Look, I\'m an Eels fan. Beautiful Freak was a great disc. I\'ve appreciated later tunes as well. But I\'m SO FRICKIN\' SICK of hearing this song on RP. I liked it at first, but it\'s the only song I hear at LEAST twice a day on RP. Please remove it from rotation, so that I might remember what I liked about it in the first place...
Even more perfect for a saturday morning
Perfect for the Friday afternoon, windin' down for the long weekend!

Yeah it's worth a buy IMHO. I like Daisies of the Galaxy the best myself but definitely give it thumbs up.
Was on EELS website yesterday. Go to the \"Ask Uncle E.\" section-it\'s hilarious! This is another band I wish I was in. When Butch quits, I think E. should hire me to play drums.

Good stuff. How about leading into some Ramones afterward? That\'s definitely an underplayed band on RP.
THEY JAM!!! :p (pimp)
Eels have a new album!! Great new!!! Thanks RP!! (pimp)
Cool
I find I like the Eels more and more... keep \'em comin\'!
If it weren't for the Eels, there wouldn't be much rawkin' around here.
I don\'t know why, but I just can\'t stop tapping my heels to this one. :p
That was great!
