Outside there's a boxcar waitin'
Outside the family stew
Out by the fire breathin'
Outside we wait 'til face turns blue

I know the nervous walkin'
I know the dirty beard hangs
Out by the boxcar waitin'
Take me away to nowhere plains

There is a wait so long
You'll never wait so long
Here comes your man, here comes your man
Here comes your man

Big shake on the boxcar movin'
Big shake to the land that's falling down
Is a wind makes a palm stop blowin'
A big, big stone fall and break my crown

There is a wait so long
You'll never wait so long
Here comes your man, here comes your man
Here comes your man, here comes your man

There is a wait so long
You'll never wait so long
Here comes your man, here comes your man
Here comes your man, here comes your man

You may have to sedate your parents...
Great stuff and Doolittle is a favourite album of mine.
Brilliant concert in Perth in December 2022.
The quintessential perfect pop song
I couldn't put my finger on what my Saturday morning was missing. Pixies!
Just saw Pixies live last week. Brilliant gig!
pretty catchy pop

Sorry, dim and distant past, but still funny.  Thanks friend.
I've only recently become a Pixies fan. I've got a lot of catching up to do.

That's Kim playing bass and singing backup.
Kim and Kelly together is The Breeders though.
Oh, that phenomenal album!  Thank you for playing the Pixies, RP!

I saw them a few weeks ago and they played 32 tracks in 90 minutes including this.
This is just one of those songs that you can always jam to.

This doesn't really sound much like any Stones song, or their style to me, though it certainly has a mid-'60s sound to it - maybe The Animals or Them.  Everyone hears something different.

Or you could pretend that they were singing to your bride about you, Hodgie. While you were getting married to a woman.

Hope this unsnarls that Gordian knot for you.

Alternatively...Stephen Fry's quite happy to help out. (Just don't think about it too much.)

Stephen Fry dressed up as a woman
"Lord! That's my wedding song!"

Hey misterbearbaby   (misterbearbaby?) anyway,

Thank you for your postive and uplifting comment. However, would the Pixies be as sh*tty and out-of-tune as say, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Grateful Dead, etc all rated as 10s and 9s on your ratings page?   All excellent singer-songwriters yes, but not exactly the ones to tune your guitar by.  I love them all, just pointing out by your own standards that one does not need a velvet voice to be awesome and to make all of our lives better by just singing a song.
{#Music}

We want you to be happy, or at least scroll over to PSD.

Wow!  Rarely do we see a Husker Du reference on RP.  It's not too late for a little Candy Apple Grey (we can start there) to emerge on RP.

Here Comes The Sun
Here Comes The Bride
Here Comes The Rooster
Here Comes Santa Claus

Those songs have a little less in common with this song as does "Here Comes The Night", which, by the way, was not written by Van Morrison.

''Here comes the night'' by Van the Man
A little Werewolves of London sampling in there.
Can't hear this one enough!

New single out. Quite good.
Love it!

More rocking with the Pixies. What is it with this band that gets you moving?  {#Bananajam}
Once again, the segue adds enjoyment.  After "Don't be Cruel" this sounds better than it does most of the time.  It's not my favorite Pixies track, but the set (the medium) is the massage
I love the Pixies, but I have to say, this is my least favorite. PSD

Yes!!! Pixies!!!!
{#Yes}

Needed a head-bopping tune this afternoon.
This ranks right up there with the best throw-em-a-bone hit singles from non-fm radio bands.
SNAZZY
From the opening chord reminicent of Hard Day's Night through the hummable melodic versus to Kim's echoes on the bridge/chorus this is so the product of a band that understood what popular rock and roll of the 60s was to so many and put their own cool and unique edge on it all.

Love to the Pixies.
I remember hearing this in a Gap in 1989, and being torn between outrage and delight. I was 15, of course. ;)

Check out this part from an old interview from NME (New Musical Express) with Black Francis himself about "Here Comes Your Man":

I'd heard that explanation, too, but never with the citation to back it up... Well done!!  : )

Check out this part from an old interview from NME (New Musical Express) with Black Francis himself about "Here Comes Your Man":

"This is a pre-Pixies song that I wrote when I was about 15. It's about winos and hobos travelling on the trains who die in the California Earthquake. Before earthquakes everything gets very calm, animals stop talking and birds stop chirping and there's no wind. It's very ominous.
I've been through a few earthquakes actually cos I grew up in California. I was only in one big one in 1971. I was very young and I slept through it. I've been awake through lots of small ones at school and at home. It's very exciting actually, a very comical thing. It's like the earth is shaking, and what can you do? Nothing."

That would explain why the lyric is "there's a box car waiting" instead of "there's a bockscar waiting".

For "Bockscar" try this:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bockscar

Accidental or intentional duality of meaning is not uncommon in literature/poetry/lyrics, and it has been argued that it is not accidental at all, but subliminal - on the part of either the composer/artist, or the listener/audience, and/or both. By now we have confused the issue fourfold at its outset, and then we must, necessarily, multiply that by the subset of the averaged amount of the most common interpretations.

In other words, E=MC squared. Or, more likely, it's whatever the kcuf you think it is. Either way, it is never less than the emotive tone it strikes in any individual.

...must....sleep....now...

Here Comes My 8...

Very tuneful stuff from the Pixies.  I dig.

Never really "got" this band, and it's not for lack of trying... but after about 3-4 songs, I just want to run screaming from the house.

Yep. I just did it also. Thankfully nobody walked by.
I remember when WHFS listeners voted London Calling as the greatest album of the 80s (even though it came out in '79), Weasel went on a week-long rant against his own listeners. He's probably still mad.

Well, this is the album that should have won. 10

A great song and a great album.
