Don't worry I'm not looking at you
Gorgeous and dressed in blue
Don't worry I'm not looking at you
Gorgeous and dressed in blue
I know it drives you crazy
When I pretend you don't exist
When I'd like to lean in close
And run my hands against your lips
Though we haven't even spoken
Still I sense there's a rapport
So whisper me your number
I'll call you up at home
Whisper me your number
I'll call you up at home
Don't worry I'm not looking at you [x2]
Gorgeous and dressed in blue
Don't worry I'm not looking at you
I know you see me see you
As you see me walk on past
When there's nothing more I'd like to do
Then come in close and hear you laugh
Though we haven't even spoken
Still I sense there's a rapport
So whisper me your number
I'll call you up at home
Yeah whisper me your number
I'll call you up at home
Whisper me your number
I'll call you up at home
Hmm whisper me your number

My college girlfriend did her best to introduce me to Morphine, but I wouldn't listen because we were at the point in the relationship. Fortunately I discovered Morphine shortly after that relationship ended and have thoroughly enjoyed ever since. The Cure for Pain was my introduction to Morphine. Good times.
Every damn time - Morphine is soul food...

Great sound - using a guitar-slide on a bass, coupled with that smoky sax.  Nice.

Damn. LOVE.
I can "Name That Tune" of ANY Morphine song in two notes while only knowing a fraction of their body of work....as can every other RP listener.
Just fabulous...9+
This is drunken bone jumping music.

I keep trying to like this.

Maybe next time around....
Thank you bill! Such a sexy sound with the sax and Mark's voice.  Wonderful!
You have to be very careful about the company you are in before you start professing to be a big morphine fan.

Another one who died too young.
I'm not a huge fan of a lot of their stuff, but I love this tune.

I like the Doors-esque sound of Morphine but you have to be in the right frame of mind for it, or keep it as background sound. It's pretty dark from what i can tell, generally.

The bass and Sax here are awesome...kinda gives me that feeling of walking down a deserted street in NYC at 3AM. Cool!

You never need to guess who you're listening to when Morphine comes on....

Tony, I sometimes wonder about you.... I wish these guys would stick to the slow and moody songs, cause their fast stuff is too much...but this is juuuust right.

Just reading the first few comments below, I'm surprised to find so much negativity regarding a solid band with an original sound. Some people just need to chill.
This music is suiting my morning...

I don't need people to sing on key or play even well. Case in point. I loved the Sex Pistols in the 70's. I just think this band is pretentious and their ideas lack imagination or creativity. I do give musicians allot of leeway if their ideas excite my imagination and are original. This band just sucks.
Although im not a huge fan of this song. What you said is absolutly wrong. This band is defniitly original. The guitar was played tuning one string, their was deep piano used as a bass. There were very unique almost talkative vocals, and they had some great saxaphone fills. If you ask me, that's extremly creative. The sex pistols were the ones with low imagination if you ask me.

Some may call the dissonance "creepy" or "mysterious" but I find the out of tune musicians just annoying in a relatively ok song. Someone get these guys a new producer capable of producing. The sax is often a quarter tone off and the constant use of the whammy bar doesnt help.

this is a great variation on the usual Morphine sound, so shut it on this one, Morphine-naysayers.

Kenny G?? I don't think so. Last time I checked, Kenny G doesn't play a tenor or baritone sax. This is saxophone how it's meant to be played. But your unfortunate mention of Kenny G reminds me of one of the all-time greatest rip jobs I've ever had the chance to read. It comes from jazz guitarist Pat Metheny when asked what he thought about Kenny G for those of you that might be interested. For those Kenny G fans...well...sorry. https://www.jazzoasis.com/methenyonkennyg.htm
As a (somewhat barely) functioning music critic (sez PM, "..the critics. Where are they on this?"), I'm not so much a Kenny G detractor as a Kenny G ignorer. Who of consequence pays any attention to him? No one I know of. And, yes, we can get exercised about his tasteless overdub of "It's a Beautiful World", but I find it much more useful to get exercised over Mugabe's creation of 700,000 Zimbabwe homeless, the civilian death toll in Iraq, starvation in North Korea, and so on. What Kenny G lacks and probably will never have is the respect of his peers, which, as any practicing musician will tell you, counts way more than any amount of record sales.
That twisty bass sound is so original and cool! :meditate.gif:
Such a sexy, twisted song. Love it.

Wow! Great link! I'm impressed by PM's criticism, both before & after "What a Wonderful World"

I'm not sure it was fretless. However it did only have two strings strung. Mark did not believe in the other two strings.
Never heard Morphine before RP, thanks Bill. I am now a fan of both.
