I feel it all around
I feel it in my bones
My life is on the line
When I'm away from home
When I step out the door
The jungle is alive
I do not trust my ears
I don't believe my eyes
I will not fall in love—I cannot risk the bet
'Cause hearts are fragile toys—so easy to forget
It's just another day
There's murder in the air
It drags me when I walk
I smell it everywhere
It's just another day
Where people cling to light
To drive away the fear
That comes with every night
It's just another day.... It's just another day
It's just another day.... It's just another day....
It's just another day when people wake from dreams
The voices in their ears that will not go away
I had a dream last night:
The world was set on fire
And everywhere I ran
There wasn't any water
The temperature increased
The sky was crimson red
The clouds turned into smoke
And everyone was dead
(But)
There's a smile on my face...for everyone
There's a golden coin...that reflects the sun
There's a lonely place...that's always cold
There's a place in the stars...for when you get old
There's razors in my bed
That come out late at night
They always disappear
Before the morning light
I'm dreaming again
Of life underground
It doesn't ever move
It doesn't make a sound
And just when I think—that things are in their place
The heavens are secure—the whole thing explodes in my face
It's just another day.... It's just another day
It's just another day.... It's just another day....
One of the first concerts I ever attended without my parents carting me there, Oingo Boingo opened for the Police at what was then the Los Angeles Forum. The Police had just released "Ghost in the Machine" but I had not heard much of Oingo Boingo. You can bet I left that concert a new fan of Oingo Boingo. It was 1982 and I had just turned 16. What a memory to have.
That had to be one hexx of a show!! So jelly!
80s-tastic
Take me back to AIless freedom.
A stunning band live, with Danny Elfman one of my top 10 frontmen (persons). The instruments in question are not marimbas, they are balafons and they're not electronic, they're acoustic. You can see them in action at https://www.reddit.com/r/ifyou...
Thank You for the info! Totally cool. I Googled it. At least I was close. ...wooden tines!
I like it! ..especially the electronic marimba!

Worse than Limp Bizkit, Butthole Surfers, Chumbawamba, The The, et al, ad nauseum, ad infinitum?
I've not heard of et al and ad infinitum, but I think Ad Nauseum are live in the studio with Marc Riley on BBC 6 Music this week.
I never got to see Oingo Boingo live, even though I had a few opportunities to do so here in So. Calif, but I saw Danny Elfman at the Hollywood Bowl on Saturday. It was good.
The band now known as Former Members of Oingo Boingo were at the Mountain Winery yesterday, but it was too far for me to go on a work night (would have taken me about two hours each way). Sadly. Even sadder - a friend contacted me Saturday night to tell me he had fifth row tickets and couldn't make it, but without more notice, I was unable to make it either.
One among the best 80's bands riding the 'new wave'...
Saw them live at PHX State Fair, back in 1991. Even better live, although the crowd was packed with school kids, mostly.
I was one of those college age punks crowding everyone
Oingo Boingo was the best live performance I've ever seen. Nothing even came close.
RP needs a Cheese emoji please!
This is some sizzling smoked jalapeño cheese...
That's a snare drum, not a high hat! Maybe you should consider listening to one of the higher quality streams if you can - it's worth it.
Of course I accept that it will still annoy you, but it will be with much greater clarity!
I must have been on drugs when I wrote hi-hat! I'm listening on my third best headphones and it's perfectly clear, but I think it's the 80s production that's giving me the irrits.
That percussion instrument (hi-hat?) on the 2nd and 4th beat is really fucking annoying.

Yes, it is more developed, musical, cleverly arrange, and with better vocals and instrumentation...Yes, it is better.
Why the heck did I have this rated at only a 7?!? Easily a 9. Maybe even a 10.
Agreed.

God, I thought this was Duran Duran.
I thought it was the Fixx.
Who dat?
The A.C. in the post you're replying to is a link to a wiki page for a band. Hovering over it will give you the name in the link. The band sounds nice.
Worse than Limp Bizkit, Butthole Surfers, Chumbawamba, The The, et al, ad nauseum, ad infinitum?
The first rule of Chumbawamba is that we don't talk about (or play on RP) Chumbawamba....
Dead Kennedys? and an dishonorable mention to Catherine Wheel, whose music I like. Always a little hard to listen to a band named after a torture device.
How about the band conventionally called by their fans as A.C?

The very worst thing about RP is that they'll play some effing amazing song and then I'll feel like I need to listen to more of that album, and down the rabbit hole I go, not listening to RP. On the other hand, is that actually bad? I think not, in fact I think the opposite.
Talk talk?
Nooo!
At last some Oingo Boingo.
Thank you.
Some of the negative comments are just awful so I will try to say this as nioely as possible...I have never liked Oingo Boingo...so this is one band where I use the PSD button. That said I do respect that Elfman does a lot of film scores now and is a great talent. But, more interestingly, this is the first time I realized they sound like Duran Duran...another band I don't care for. I guess it's just that sound. For you fans... enjoy. I realized a while ago musical taste has little to do with a persons character. It's no big deal.
I was lucky enough to see them 5 times, two of those were Halloween Shows. I consider those shows to be some of the finest live performances I have ever seen, and I have seen some amazing shows.

none of these songs are rock n rool.
Haha! Trick question! No song is rock n rool. You just made that up.
I always suspected it was inspired by Clive Barker's "Nightbreed" but could never find any evidence of a formal link. Anybody else make this connection?
Worse than Limp Bizkit, Butthole Surfers, Chumbawamba, The The, et al, ad nauseum, ad infinitum?
I googled this and Ad Infinitum only released one single but among their members was Peter Hook of New Order. I'm interested to track it down for a listen. Looks like they're on YouTube.
Still, great band names all around!
so you'd like to hear it every hour or is that just your time zone?

then you aren't listening to RP enough. If it's good, they play it!
Perhaps you'de prefer their old name? The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo.
Better than Clowns of Death.....
Thank you.
Nah, there are plenty which are much worse.
e.g. "Taylor Swift"
Except Butthole Surfers & The The actually had talent.
He was referring to those bands' choices of names, not their talent (or lack thereof).

Pshh, they should have made it longer.
And this song does make me smile, which is a nice gift.

No, they didn't come from a machine. Watched the band play live a few times and the vibes were played. Not one set but two at times.
Exactly. I saw them at the Greek in LA on their farewell tour. The band's musicianship, and Elfman's talent, were astonishing.

FYI, back in '94 they dropped "Oingo" and just went by "Boingo" and release their final album of the same name. It was a slimmed down version of the band hence the shorting the name by half.

No, that honor must go to the Weepies.
IMO
Bongo Bong to Oingo Boingo ! You go Bill
Same transition of songs right now on June 2. Hmm.... Still fun, though. :)
Bongo Bong to Oingo Boingo ! You go Bill
Hard to believe it's in rotation again only 12 days later.
And it rains when Danny farts. Haters.
Thank God for Danny that he had his soundtrack career to fall back on.

I hope there's an ointment for that.
I find just a quick shower does the trick. It doesn't stain.
Bristol Zoo Gardens - it's one of the best days out in Bristol
Living in the greater LA basin in the 80's
This song always puts me back there in that time and place
Loving the time and the memories of youth
So glad I don't still live there though
what's the old saying, you can never go back?
exactly...and how many people have ever heard anything but too shy from this band?

Yes. It was.
