Oingo Boingo and Wang Chung were 2 bands that I thought little of in my teens. I think much more of them in my 50s, now. Funny how musical tastes change.
This song stands up. The bass and guitar work is amazing.
No matter how much I love and respect Oingo/Elfman, whenever this song comes on, my inner ear starts hearing, “Her name is Rio and she dances on the sand”. 🤷🏻♂️

One of the first concerts I ever attended without my parents carting me there, Oingo Boingo opened for the Police at what was then the Los Angeles Forum. The Police had just released "Ghost in the Machine" but I had not heard much of Oingo Boingo. You can bet I left that concert a new fan of Oingo Boingo. It was 1982 and I had just turned 16. What a memory to have.

They were fabulous, but I would give the nod to Little Feat and their (un)godly screaming finishes. Honorable mention to the Clarence White era Byrds with 4 encores in their second show of the night and Paul Butterfield as the closer providing some great cool-down music. Think that over, listening to Paul Butterfield to settle yourself.

That said I do respect that Elfman does a lot of film scores now and is a great talent. But, more interestingly, this is the first time I realized they sound like Duran Duran...another band I don't care for. I guess it's just that sound. For you fans... enjoy. I realized a while ago musical taste has little to do with a persons character. It's no big deal.

im so extremely jealous of the commenters who were able to see oingo boingo live :pensive: danny elfman and steve bartek make such an amazing team, and with the other band members theyre excellent to listen to. ive been listening to oingo boingo on loop for about a year now and i truly do not regret giving them a try. their work on this album, along with only a lad, nothing to fear, good for your soul, and even so-lo were just so amazing to me! i was blown away upon my first listen through of oingo boingos discography and its some of the best music ive ever heard. their music has really helped me out a lot, especially with my adhd! thanks danny ily!

I don't think this is one of Oingo Boingo's better songs. Dead Man's Party is the weakest Oingo Boingo album in my collection. Nothing To Fear, on the other hand, is an amazing album full of the Danny Elman promise from earlier years. No bad songs. There's a nice video on Urgh A Music War also. Nice to see them in Back To School too. Rock on folks!

Danny Elfman was the lead singer. He seems to do every 3rd or forth soundtrack for movies and TV today.

And to me this exemplifies Bill's Mastery but next time me thinks Oingo Boingo should follow Bongo Bong and then Dead Mans Bones can be last in the set to make it 4 in a row instead of the traditional Trifecta's through out the RP programming day!! Nicely done in any case!
