Like the flower and the scent of summer,
Like the sun and the shine,
Well the truth may come in strange disguises
Send the message to your mind.
Tattva, acintya bheda bheda Tattva (4 times)
At the moment that you wake from sleeping
And you know it's all a dream,
Well the truth may come in strange disguises
Never knowing what it means.
Tattva, acintya bheda bheda Tattva (4 times)
For you shall be tomorrow,
Like you have been today,
If this was never ending,
What more can you say?
Ginger Baker made a taco
Ginger Baker made a taco
Ginger Baker made a taco
What? Everybody knows that.

Comes from British Cinema Royalty, The Mills family. I like the music but there is something irritatingly Upper Middle Class Privalige about adopting Indian "Spiritualism" that I could never gat past.
Who do you think has time to practice or buy music equipment?
Oh, he's from London.
It really sounded very, very Manchestah!!

I cannot un-hear this. You buggers are funny!
The entire CD is amazing
I second that. Agree, the entirety of the album is absolutely brilliant!
This is a 10 from me. Never heard of the group but wow. The 10s shouldn't be reserved for revered classics. I don't care if they're one-hit wonder (or no-hit wonder), this rocks my socks.
The entire CD is amazing
OK Thanks for that...but I still hear Ginger Baker made a taco...Clang association, may need a lobotomy to fix....
Given the many levels upon which the Universe appears to operate, I would like to think that both interpretations are equally valid. I lean toward Ginger Baker's having made a taco, though... for purely personal reasons.
It's Sanskrit: Tattva acintya bheda abheda tattva
It means, roughly, "truth, the unknowable, difference, oneness, truth"

Once you hear it, you can't un-hear it.....
The British Isles is made up of four nations
The Scots, who keep the Sabbath and everything else they can lay their hands on.
The Welsh, who pray on their knees on Sundays and on their neighbours the rest of the week
The Irish, who do not know what they want, but are willing to fight anyone to the death for it
And the English, who consider themselves to be a race of self-made men – thereby relieving the Almighty of a terrible responsibility
For the above comment, and of course the Ginger Baker made a taco comment, I am moving my rating +1 to a 7.
RIP- you old bastard.
You need to respect this amazing drummer. Wake up a**ho**
I'll never be able to hear this tune any other way.
Thanks for taking the mickey out of an otherwise overblown theme.
PEACE!!
OH damn you BillG! I just had to re-bump my already bumped rating; 8→9 now. And more fallout from this song - I've mentally added Ginger Baker in the cast of Reservoir dogs (as Mr. Ginger, of course!!) and he's in the backseat while Mr. Orange and Mr. White discuss robbing Jewelry stores. Mr. White ends the scene with "I'm hungry; let's get a taco."
LONG LIVE RP!!
For your consideration, I hereby nominate this post for inclusion in the RP Post Hall of Fame. From the comments, it would seem many agree that Grogg and Pro-C have inexorably altered how we process. All Hail, RP!
"There is actually hardly any English living there"
How's that racism thing working out for you?
Soon you'll be "free"
LMAO
I must say that this band seems a bit much now considering the times, but in the 90's they were pretty groundbreaking... Everyone in my mushrooming cloud of churchy-templeness is grooving to RP's greatness!

He's actually saying "acintya-bhedÄbheda-tattva". This is the idea that everything has an inconceivable one-ness and difference. It is a Hindu philosophy similar to ying-yang. This is btw, Sanskrit (Hindi is derived from it, like Latin and English).
I always loved this song...now I can chant it myself! Thank you ...lol
Be careful to say that his taco doesn't taste good!
Being English does not mean living in England any more than Modern Scotland (whatever that is) says that anyone living in Scotland is a Scot...

Sounds fascinating, friend. I've just started tracing through Ancestry and it's interesting stuff. I'd love to see your work once it's up and running .
So yes, you can tap your feet and have a sad sort of smile at the same time...
Thx for playing. I like the one that starts with the peacocks too.
What? Hope it worked out.
Fred, you have contributed many useful and interesting comments regarding music on RP but since you have chosen to step into the cultural debate then you are fair game for reply...
Being English does not mean living in England any more than Modern Scotland (whatever that is) says that anyone living in Scotland is a Scot. Politically Correct Billy Bragg nonsense! Indigenous people trace their heritage and genetic makeup from narrow genetic groups. In England that might be Angles, Saxons or Danes. In Wales many are descended from Celts.
When Bill Goldsmith thinks of London he, rightly, thinks of the descendants of the people who left to live and fight in the American colony 200 years ago. The same characteristics of English people are found in many white Americans - that is why we are so culturally close and have a 'special relationship'. I think that's what he meant by as 'not exotic'.
The problem is the term English being used both as a cultural description and a passport Nationality.
If we separate the two then things become clearer.
Ah, ethno-nationalism rears its unpleasant head, though in Brexit Ingerlan you're in tune with the zeitgeist (sic). Well, O Anglosaxon one, Celts were in the island that is now Britain for millennia before those Johann-cum-lately Angles and Saxons piled in from Germany after the Romans took their ball home. As a Mick and thus a Celt, I reckon that on a 'genetic' basis I'm a native and the rest are immigrants, not "indigenous people". Bleedin' anglosaxons, come over here, rape our houses and pillage our women, take our lands, bring their smelly foreign food (cont for 94 pages...)

Still love this comment. It also explains the reference to 'flour'.
YES!! I've been looking forward to hearing this song for a while now, and couldn't remember the song or band name, and due to my hesitance to Google "Ginger Baker made a taco" to find the RP song comments, I got to wait a month or so to hear it here....and just before lunch time for me; hmmm, for some reason, Mexican food sounds good today.

Hilarious!! I Love them!
I can see why! Your username is spelled backward you're stuck in Jersey! You're doomed.
I can see why you had a crush on Hayley Mills, Bill.
They are English, most speak English, just don't look "English" enough for some.
I meet all the parameters, 'cept one. I don't actually live there more than a couple of weeks most years. Am I/am I not English?
Grammatically and logically, that is a mess, mate.

Ah, you've lit a hot topic there. Many of us in Ingerlan take the view that modern Englishness is defined by cultural and ethnic diversity, a point of view championed strongly by Billy Bragg, not least in his book "Progressive Patriot". Modern Scotland takes the view that anyone living in Scotland is a Scot, a minority view South of the Border so far, sadly.
The very definition of "English" is fraught politically, socially, legally and economically.

Better late than never. It is an all-time classic album, and IMO Kula Shaker's other works paled into insignificance in comparison. It had the unusual wrinkle of being a rock album by English white guys into Indian mysticism, and has some quite moving tracks. The band's flame glowed very brightly for a short period before burning out. The Wikipedia history is illuminating.

What is the point of posting the same thing EVERYComment?
Life often does seem quite pointless, doesn't it? I hope you be having a marvelous day, pointless or not...
everybody in my mushrooming multitude of churches be dancing buck ass naked all across the world like bowlegged gypsy muleskinners... we love this pointless song... it rocks... tweaks our pointy nipples... we love sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll...

Oh, and how cool to look back at comments 10 years old. I love this station. Thanks Bill.
"Mrs. haWiggans?"
So this isn't Ian Brown in any way, shape or form?
I was hearing "Tudball", as in Tim Conway on the old Carol Burnett Show.

Very cool. From wikipedia:
The cover art (by comic-book artist Dave Gibbons) consists of various images related to the letter K, including: John F. Kennedy, Lord Kitchener, Karl Marx, Gene Kelly, Katharine Hepburn, Ken Dodd, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Danny Kaye, Kal-El (Superman), Boris Karloff (as Frankenstein), Krishna, King Kong, Martin Luther King, Jr., 2 Knights (a pair of Keys on one of them), a Kettle, Kali, the Kaiser, Nikita Khrushchev, Grace Kelly, the number 11 (symbolizing K) and Rudyard Kipling's book Kim.
Every person on the cover has some immediate connection to the letter K. Karl Marx, Kennedy, Kaiser, Krishna, King Kong...https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K_(album)
