"The first producer Robertson considered for production of the album (title: Robbie Robertson; release: 1987)  was fellow Canadian Daniel Lanois. After meeting up with several more potential producers, Robertson decided to work with Lanois because of their shared interest in experimentation. After Lanois finished a stage of the production work with U2 on what would become their album The Joshua Tree, Robertson let Lanois know that he was ready to begin work on the album."

There is a long history so your instincts were spot on though Daniel's influence was there but not his actual work as Bill noted.

Long time Robbie fan, it took me a while to embrace the whole album after the style of his earlier solo work, but when I came back to it a couple of years later I really liked the overall vibe. Hearing a great song like this randomly on RP is always a treat, thanks Bill & Rebecca.

Never understood the success of "THE BAND" and their
glorified concert-film meant nooothing to me neither!

Same for Robbie Robertson's first album,
I bought for whatever reason right after his "BAND" split.
Just did not like it neither...
