I wanna be sedated
Nothing to do, nowhere to go-ho
I wanna be sedated
Just get me to the airport, and put me on a plane
Hurry, hurry, hurry, before I go insane
I can't control my fingers, I can't control my brain
Oh, no, oh, oh, oh, ho
Twenty-twenty-twenty-four hours to go
I wanna be sedated
Nothing to do, nowhere to go-ho
I wanna be sedated
Just put me in a wheelchair, and get me on a plane
Hurry, hurry, hurry, before I go insane
I can't control my fingers, I can't control my brain
Oh, no, oh, oh, oh, ho
Twenty-twenty-twenty-four hours to go
I wanna be sedated
Nothing to do, nowhere to go go-ho
I wanna be sedated
Just put me in a wheelchair, and get me to the show
Hurry, hurry, hurry, before I go loco
I can't control my fingers, I can't control my toes
Oh, no, oh, oh, oh, ho
Twenty-twenty-twenty-four hours to go
I wanna be sedated
Nothing to do, nowhere to go go-ho
I wanna be sedated
Just put me in a wheelchair, and get me to the show
Hurry, hurry, hurry, before I go loco
I can't control my fingers, I can't control my toes
Oh, no, oh, oh, oh, ho
Bah bah ba-bah, ba-bah bah ba-bah, I wanna be sedated
Bah bah ba-bah, ba-bah bah ba-bah, I wanna be sedated
Bah bah ba-bah, ba-bah bah ba-bah, I wanna be sedated
Bah bah ba-bah, ba-bah bah ba-bah, I wanna be sedated
No better live show than the Ramones
I saw them live about 1981, in San Francisco. They were fantastic.
20
2024. it's this year
I use this as my ringtone. I'm an anesthesiologist.
Cool. Too funny!
No. 3 on my Top Five list of Christmas songs.
I AGREE!!! ...BEATS MICHAEL BOUBLE'!!!
great head banging tunes for old guys
...and gals. Took my younger brother to a club about 40 years ago to see them - what a hoot: smoke machine on over-kill and all other varieties of smoke -"take-it-Dee-Dee-1-2-3-4!", one tune into another, crazy energy; we had a blast. Great time with a brother who I couldn't tolerate less than 2 years before!
No better live show than the Ramones
Too bad they are no more
Graduated college to this. Later, hitting recovery from booze and drugs in ‘84 went to my first “sober dance” (every one there straight and CRAZY), this came on and we almost tore down the church where they held the dance. The energy was palpable!!!
A St. Vitus Dance! ...eh? THRASH ON! ...& ENJOY!
The definition of an over rated band..
Bubble gum music has it's place. But yeah, it ain't prime rib.
great head banging tunes for old guys
and gals...am giving this an 8 for old times' sake, not for lyrical genius. Maybe 'you had to be there'?
great head banging tunes for old guys
or anyone who feels like head banging :)
Nobody cares what you think
Yeah, he told me alright. Just my opinion. Opinions are like a-holes, you all are one.
Bah bah ba-bah, ba-bah bah ba-bah!
Nobody cares what you think
You tell 'em.
Nobody cares what you think
I am not anesthesiologist, you would think by 62 I would grow up.

always when I hear this song I remember your comment.
Wrong Bucko, this here is a classic!
I WOULD prefer some other cuts from the boys though...

Hey Johnny, Hey Dee Dee!
Little Tommy, Joey.
Hope you guys are still rockin' SOMEWHERE!
You should really change that. Start with the "Leave Home" reissue. It's still got their great early sound, and all the great songs from the 1st album tacked on at the end in a live concert, which is the way they should be heard...as fast & furious as possible!
Too bad it took 20 years before it caught on with the masses, but by then, it was too late to save the band.
Marky Ramone: We Were Punk Brothers But Political Enemies
Thank you RP!!!
Totally agree! I like reading and posting on this site, even if I feel that some of the stuff is rubbish that I disagree with (as in below72’s post). I believe however that even the idiots are entitled to their opinions and as long as they aren’t nasty they shouldn't be insulted for them. Lets all self-moderate and avoid abusive comments as I’d hate to see this site descend into some of the vileness you see in other less enlightened areas of social media.
It's people like you and this way of thinking which is responsible for all the wars and hatred in this world...
Shame you are such a jealous, bitter and intolerant freak. Your life must really suck, Dude.
Why don't you go and polish your Donald Trump posters? I am sure he'll sort you out good when idiots like you votet him to be president!
Yeah, and that's the end then of Ramones being played on the radio, right, those longhaired no good drug users!
I see dead people everwhere too who do not know there dead. Your are one of them!
but... Why don't we hear more Ramones on RP. GABBA GABBA HEY!
In short - this band totally sucked wind.
Bill..Just STOP the madness. I see dead people everywhere...and they don't even know they're dead!

Maybe so about Henley. Nonetheless, the song you quote is quite a good, a very thoughtful and an ever-relevant song. No hackdom there.

Exactly.
Stones 'Rocks Off' now this
.
(now if we can get Bill to play stuff like this on Fri & Sat nites)

Zero tolerance for others and other lifestyles, other cultures. Only the own way of thinking is right, right.
What is stupid here is you, that you not only think this way, but also feel compelled to share this stupid thoughts with us.
It is everyones perogative to listen to and like and find good and appreciate WHATEVER THEY WANT!
And it is not you place to "forbit" this or call it madness.
But if it is madness, then I am rather mad than a stupid fool like you!
There are a lot of bands, even nowadays who cannot sing, write or play, and still make bucketloads of money.
And good for them, I say.

So who's performing this song, then, and who wrote it?

I hear that.
Still, da Ramones were fun. NYC CBGB would not have been the same without them. (I wouldn't know, personally, though, I was in school in Boston at the Rathskeller and thereabouts.)
A word to your lyrics. One of my fav Eagle songs, and one of my fav songs about social justice and human ethics, or lack thereof.
One comma in, or out, makes a big big difference.
Put up a bunch of ugly boxes, and Jesus, people bought 'em
Put up a bunch of ugly boxes, and Jesus people bought 'em
This song is timeless!
I think you’ll find this type of thing is called ‘rock n roll’. Perhaps you would be more confortable with an ‘easy listening’ station.
Well, that ticks all my boxes then....
Gene Vincent Be Bop a Lula
Stray Cats Rock this Town
Dick Dale Night Rider
Ramones Wanna be Sedated
Reminds me why I love RP!!!
I guess you don't dance ever.

Gone but not forgotten
And another sedated hobo sapiens at Notre-Dome metro station
Clearly trying to turn this show clockwise.
really funny
Genius!
and funny (even if you are not an atheist)
Cool family.
Are they "living here in Queens. Eating refried beans. Gulping down thorazines" As in "We're a Happy Family"
Bill just pulled off Dick Dale to Ramones. Also genius!!!
had to wait for the song to be over so i could control my fingers and toes enough to type that
And EVER! :D

Recently read this this book—what a quick, fun read. It's several years old now, but besides Johnny dying, nothing has really changed since it came out. Monte always had their backs.
See if you can locate one through your local library if you're a fan and can't find one in a store. You'll plow through it in lightning speed, just like The Ramones did when they covered "Let's Dance" 38 YEARS AGO!
PSD.
Everybody in my mushrooming multitude of churches be dancing buck ass naked... love this song... love sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll...
Perhaps if Selkirk Parish church had been more like your church I wouldn’t have stopped going after I grew up.
We miss you so much, Cynaera... I be the holy ghost of big stud Romeo Tuma...
love this song...

Back in the day the delivery of Ramones songs felt like a million miles an hour frantic. It doesn’t feel as wild today but I’m not as wild as I was in the 70’s either.
Such is life!

reminds me of this poem—
next to of course god
by e.e. cummings
“next to of course god america i
love you land of the pilgrims’ and so forth oh
say can you see by the dawn’s early my
country ’tis of centuries come and go
and are no more what of it we should worry
in every language even deafanddumb
thy sons acclaim your glorious name by gorry
by jingo by gee by gosh by gum
why talk of beauty what could be more beaut-
iful than these heroic happy dead
who rushed like lions to the roaring slaughter
they did not stop to think they died instead
then shall the voice of liberty be mute?”
He spoke. And drank rapidly a glass of water
love this song... reminds me of this poem—
SPRING, 2012
by David Bottoms
I rub my eyes. The world is still green—
a lime dust coating the porch tiles, rocking chairs, patio, yard,
delicate as a mourning veil.
A green finch dances between the bird feeders.
I can't breathe, my eyes water. My friend can't breathe, either.
She's lost her son to an I.E.D. No details yet. Routine patrol
around a dusty village far away.
Tea waits on the table between us, and two blueberry scones.
Impossible, of course, to talk about loneliness
or changing our lives. Rain today, then a cooling.
In a week or so, dogwoods flowering along the back fence.
After that, maple sap staining the hoods of our cars.
How time changes everything!
I was about to say...this sounds pretty cheery these days. Something you'd hear in a commercial. I like this poppier side of the Ramones. My brother used to play one of their albums over and over and some of their songs lost their flavor real fast.
Gotta go now - I owe romeotuma a dance!
We miss you so much, Cynaera... I be the holy ghost of big stud Romeo Tuma...
love this song...
Classic! The raw essence of angsty teen rebellion! And back there when I was in High School it sure was fun as hell to tap my watch and blurt, "Forty-forty-forty-four minutes to go -- I wanna be suhh-DAY-ted!" to make my buddies laugh and freak out the teachers. I remember one, Mr. Horne, who was unable to hide a smile. He said, "Well, he really has come out of his shell, hasn't he?!" Yes, my life was changed by Rock 'n' Roll... And so again we see...MUSIC causing BIG TROUBLE...
Hear ya. I still identify with the lyrics.
