Fear is weightless
Anger weighs a ton
Throw money at it
And they swear they're done
Then they drive out here
To investigate some crime
But the trails gone cold
So that buys us time
They are not like us
'Cause they can't stare it down
And they don't drink like us
'Cause they don't make a sound
We will not go silent
Silent to our end
We will not go silent
They need a "them"
So they'll have an "us"
Planned it that way
It's just our luck
We walk an edge
That won't fold back
But it tastes like courage
Something that they lack
I'll race them to oblivion
When I count to three
I'll race them to oblivion
They'll get there before me
Race them to oblivion
Come when it will
Come when it may
The desert teaches 'cause it takes away
We are bird
And we are snake
Bones of laughter
Thorns of hate
Anger weighs a ton
Throw money at it
And they swear they're done
Then they drive out here
To investigate some crime
But the trails gone cold
So that buys us time
They are not like us
'Cause they can't stare it down
And they don't drink like us
'Cause they don't make a sound
We will not go silent
Silent to our end
We will not go silent
They need a "them"

Can do without that one - very flat and uninspired.
That's it. I'm done. *This fucking song* has finally driven me away from this site permanently.

At least they've won a Super Bowl, unlike the sad-sack Eagles.

Completely different from the other Walkabouts track you've been playing, "Dustlands." Hard to believe it's the same band.
I like 'em both.
I like 'em both.
I like it; relaxing and nice to grade papers by.
I really like this one. Ok it's slow, but the lyrics are intriguing and make me concentrate. I'm giving it an 8 for now.
Seattle.....the town is overrated.
Where's my razor so I can slit my wrists? Geez, what a downer!

I thought Kristen Hersh had started a new band for a minute.

Brings me back to the Backstage in Ballard.
The Walkabouts will be playing tomorrow in club Hirsch, Nuremberg. And I will be there! Great live band on tour again... You are bored? "They Are Not Like U"
passes the time, but hardly new.
sounds like so many others - cowboy junkies to name just one
I like this more musically than vocally. It's not bad, but it would be a bit more captivating to me if there were no vocals. I like the backwards playback part.
me like!
whats the rating number for "meh"?
this song seems interminable.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
As a songwriter, I know that most emotionally-laden music sounds better if you play it slow. This is a beautiful song made more beautiful by the slow pace. But I can see how people think it is a little boring.
Not band....just a bit boring.
I thought Kristen Hersh had started a new band for a minute.
Maybe a walk.... or a nap......
Time for a walkabout...
